Tricky Patches—these are sneaky crafting materials you need (and dread) to create the Traveler’s Musings and complete the Purify! The Scent in the Cavern quest in Infinity Nikki. You’ll need 20 of them, alongside other materials like Herbal Scent and Threads of Purity, to whip up that Whim Fragrance. Sounds like a grind? Don’t worry, I’ve got your back with this guide!
Where To Find Tricky Patches
Tricky Patches are crafting materials dropped by Spear Sacks, enemies that look like stuffed bags with spears sticking out of their heads. These little guys are part of the Esseling family, which includes other sack-type monsters like Sad Sacks and Sankious. Be warned: Spear Sacks love to tunnel underground for surprise attacks, so always stay alert!
Best Farming Locations for Tricky Patches
1. North of Florawish
Head north of the first town, Florawish, and start exploring:
- Ruins and Outskirts: Focus on the areas around the ruins, particularly near the mountains and in nearby caverns.
- Caves: These are prime spots for Esselings, especially Spear Sacks. If you haven’t cleared the caverns yet, prepare for some resistance. Bonus: caves often have treasure guarded by these tricky enemies.
The patches are more common in the outskirts and woods than inside the ruins, so don’t waste too much time searching within the ruins themselves.
2. South of Florawish
If the northern area doesn’t yield enough patches, head south:
- Route to Breezy Meadow: You’ll find Spear Sacks lurking along the outskirts as you travel toward the next region.
- Riverbanks: Southwest of Breezy Meadow, Spear Sacks sometimes pop up along the river, offering another chance to snag those patches.
Tip: You’ll encounter plenty of Sad Sacks and Sankious here, too, which drop Brokenheart Patches and Struggled Patches. While these aren’t what you’re after, don’t let them discourage you—your Tricky Patches will come eventually!
How to Defeat Spear Sacks & Respawn Mechanics
Once you’ve found a Spear Sack, use Nikki’s Purify ability to take them down. If you’re lucky, they’ll drop a Tricky Patch. Keep in mind that they also drop other patch types, so it’s not a 100% guaranteed drop every time. Persistence is key here!
Good news: enemies like Spear Sacks do respawn! The exact respawn time isn’t clear, so here’s what you can do:
- Switch Activities: Spend some time questing, crafting, or exploring other areas.
- Return Later: Check back at the farming spots periodically to see if Spear Sacks have returned.
If you’re in a rush, you can always alternate between farming in the northern and southern areas to keep up the momentum! There you have it. Don’t let the grind get you down! Farming Tricky Patches in Infinity Nikki takes patience, but it’s worth it when you finally craft that Whim Fragrance. Plus, along the way, you’ll probably pick up some extra loot and materials for future crafting projects!
