5. Great Britain
This Nation is extremely good and also extremely hard to master as well. That is why I couldn’t place it in the top 3. The variety of gameplay that can be made with this nation is huge. It can be defensive options like the Tortoise, or maybe fast-moving with the South African cars.
The tech tree is also very complex and widespread. They excel in:
- Support
- Tanky
- Securing Strategic Points
4. Sweden
If you want to be the defender of your team, go for Sweden. This nation class is the best if you’re strategic and want to take your time with things. They are not very mobile but very hard-hitting and big on the hp factor.
They have a smaller tech tree but it also is very unique. There are players that simply master Sweden as a nation and completely destroy everyone. They excel in:
- Defense
- Harassing
- Shoot and Run tactic
3. Germany
If Heavy Tanks and heavy vehicles are your jam, and making big damage after every shot, well this is the Nation for you. They are powerful and your playstyle should be aggressive but also agile. You shall need to time your shots and position yourself in a way that you’ll always have the upper hand.
They have one of the biggest tech trees which allows for tons of varieties of gameplay. A big portion of the player base’s favorite Nation is because of the heavy shots. They excel in:

2. USSR
I know I know, USSR should be number 1. For many it is, but I can’t place it. USSR as a Nation plays like the AK rifles in shooting games. They deal tons of more damage, but they are very hard to handle and master. They have very fast and reliable vehicles and go good with rushing tactics. You can adapt to almost every situation but still, the risk factor in every one of them is big. They have the best tanks, but with a bigger learning curve.
They have a huge tech tree, and actually the biggest ground tech tree. They excel in:
- Flanks
- Aggressive Playstyle with Rushing
- Capturing Points
1. USA
Do you know how the M4A1 rifle in shooting games? It doesn’t excel in everything and is balanced in almost every aspect. But at the end of the day, it works and you still win! That’s the situation with this Nation in War Thunder too. This is the most balanced, fun and at the same time forgiving nation.
The playstyles that you can choose are endless. They have vehicles that can suit every situation and you can create tons of line-ups all by yourself. You will feel very well rounded playing this Nation and that will you make you love it more.
The tech tree is huge and the categories for picking are a ton. It is just a perfect starting nation, and as you become better, it becomes an even better veteran nation. They excel in:
