Top 10 Best ARMOR & WEAPONS For Early & Mid Game
In this guide, the top 10 armor and weapons we’ll be looking at are those that have special powers in Wuchang Fallen Feathers – including spells. You can get most of these pretty early on, with some dropping a but later – especially when you reach the Cloudspire.
Keep in mind that we will be referring to specific encounters – so there may be spoilers ahead!
A lot of these weapons and armor work very well with a powerful starter build. You can find out more in our best early game demon samurai build guide!
#1 – Steampowered Spear
The Steampowered Spear stands out because of the Steam Chain ability. If you have two stacks of Skyborn Might, you can unleash a very strong AoE spin attack that allows you to perform a fiery tornado at the end.
As a result, it is very strong against enemies weak to fire – which you’ll find a lot at the start. It makes it a good option to have as an offhand weapon.

This spear can be obtained by talking to the Panda vendor that can be found at various locations throughout the game. The earliest stage where you can find him is near the Shu Sanctum. Simply go through the nearby village and enter the nearby cave.
You’ll be able to find him at the back of the cave.
When you interact with him, one of the earliest items you can get is the Steampowered Spear. Of course, you will need to get Bamboo Shoots so you can exchange them. You can get these by killing Bamboozlings you encounter at random locations.

#2 – Ming Armor
The Ming Armor is one of the best armors against physical damage at the early stages of the game. It also offers good resistance to burn – which you’ll need to deal with in Worship’ Rise.

To obtain this armor, return to the Shu Temple and you’ll find a Ming Dynasty enemy. Defeat this enemy and it will drop the entire Ming Armor set.

#3 – Lashing Whip
The Lashing Whip longsword is a solid option for most players early on as it incredibly balanced and can be used for most play styles. It also has one of the best ranges for any melee weapon in the game because of its whip form.
You can strike enemies from far away and use the Whip Dance skill for great AoE damage. It will only cost you of one stack of Skyborn Might. You can even use this when you have no stamina left – making it a great option at the end of your attacks rotation.

To get the Lashing Whip, you will need to go to the Mercury Workshop waypoint just below the Shu Sanctum. From here, follow the circular path to the two enemies found back on a wooden scaffolding.
You should be able to find it on one of the platforms on the right side.

#4 – Infernal Flames Spell
The Infernal Flames spell is a strong spell that you can get pretty early on as well. You can use it to fire a projectile that follows enemies and causes Burn buildup.
You’ll find a lot of enemies weak to this effect in the early stages so its a strong spell to have with decent damage too.
To obtain it, start by making your way out from the Shu Sanctum and turn to the right to go over the invisible bridge. From here, turn right when you arrive at the fork and pass by a large gate.
Once you’re in the village area, be careful as a boulder will come barreling down the road. Let it pass before you proceed.

After the boulder passes, turn to the right and make your way up a ladder. Follow the pathing shown below and you should come across the Face Changer – and an annoying dancing elemental enemy.
Defeat the Face Changer and you’ll be able to obtain the Infernal Flames spell. It is up to you whether you want to take the enemy head on or kill it like we did from afar!
Don’t leave the area just yet as the next weapon is really close too.

#5 – Empyrian Greataxe
The Empyrian Greataxe is one of the best versions of this weapon category, at least at this stage of Wuchang Fallen Feathers. The Empyrean Crash skill allows you to launch yourself in the air so you can dodge basically all damage.
If you have at least two stacks of Skyborn Might, you can also empower the axe with fire letting you descend with a devastating blow. Besides that it is an incredibly brutal weapon that you can use to stagger enemies.
So, if there are any enemies that have high poise against you, you can use this. The only downside to this weapon is that it is incredibly slow and methodical.

You can find this weapon in the same location as the Infernal Flames spell. Look across the rooftops from where you found the Face Changer near Shu Sanctum. You should find it on the other roof.
To get there, you’ll need to drop down and go up the stairs at the back of the building. From here, take a ladder and navigate the scaffolding. Make sure to kill the Madness enemy standing in your way.
Once taken care of, you can simply grab the Greataxe.

#6 – Firearms Blades
If you’re looking for a fun weapon, the Firearms Blades have you covered. They may seem unviable, but they are better than you think.
It has the Perfect Aim skill which allows you to dodge, shoot a bullet, and if you follow up with an attack – it will cause multiple explosions on the enemy. This allows you to build up the stagger meter.

To find this weapon, you need to start by defeating the Lu Hongliu boss. After that, go to the Shu Sanctum and open the shortcut that will allow you easy access to the area.
From the shortcut, go back towards the cave you came from, this time taking the left path in the fork. Follow the path until you reach the bottom near a village.

Go down the flight of stairs and head to the left. Navigate to the back of the houses and you’ll see a bunch of enemies. Take them down and you’ll be able to pick up the Firearms Blades from the forge.

#7 – Centipede Armor Set
The Centipede Armor set is one of the best armor sets in the entirety of Wuchang Fallen Feathers. It offers incredibly Physical Damage resistance, including Blunt, Slash and Stab – at the stage when you get it, at least.
There is one downside, which is that in terms of status ailments, it only kind of works against Corruption and even then not the whole set. So, you should only use it against enemies that don’t do elemental damage.
But besides that, it is also one of the coolest looking armors in the game.

To get this armor set, you need to first defeat the Blightweaver – Great Centipede boss that you can get to near the Mercury Workshop waypoint in Worship’s Rise i.e. under the Shu Sanctum.
Among the various drops, you will also get the Believer’s Statue.

With the Believer’s Statue in hand, head back to Tao Qing and give it to him. This will unlock access to some items you can buy – including the entirety of the Centipede Armor Set.

#8 – Astral Blade
Another great weapon that you get from defeating the Blightweaver – Giant Centipede boss is the Astral Blade. It is a direct drop and you won’t have to purchase it from Tao Qing.
This one handed sword comes with an interesting ability, Awakening Seal. If costs two stacks of Skyborn Might but gives you one stack of Biding Time – which increases your Skyborn Might generation. On activation, you deal extra spell damage.
So, this weapon is one of the best for pure spellcaster builds.

#9 – Burning Flames Spell
The Burning Flames spell is one of the best fire spells in the game that is easy to miss. It allows you to leap backward and launch multiple fireballs that deal damage and Burn buildup. It also triggers Alacrity when you’re hit while using it.
As a result, it’s a great spell to use when you’re in sticky situations.

You can obtain this spell while heading towards the Reborn Treant boss in Soulwood. At the beginning, you should see a ladder on the right. Climb up and make your way to the left going towards the Doomwillow Beach.
In a charred area, you will encounter a bird mask mini boss. Defeat this enemy and you will obtain the Burning Flames spell.

#10 – Flamebringer
The Flamebringer is one of the best Longswords to have towards the mid game of Wuchang Fallen Feathers. It has the Infernal Firebrand skill that allows you to set it on fire when you use one stack of Skyborn Might.
As a result, it is a great way to get extra fire damage. It also offers the best damage for Longswords at this stage of the game. If you’ve been using the Lashing Whip at this stage, you can certainly move onto this weapon.

Here are the steps you need to follow to get the Flamebringer longsword:
- Navigate to the Rebel Camp shrine from the Cloudspire Outskirts
- Obtain the Rebel Camp Key by defeating the red eyed Ming Guard next to the Rebel Camp Shrine
- Go to the gates and open the boss encounter to General Of The North – Ai Nengqi
- Defeat the boss and the Flamebringer will drop
