There’s so many things that you can do when it comes to Arcane Odyssey, you can take your time to explore the high seas, collect the shiniest set of armor a swashbuckler can lay their eyes on, get blasted by explosion magic unprovoked, or even go fishing! Any game is a certified GOTY when it has a working fishing mechanic that you can have fun with. But let’s take things at a snail’s pace first, you’re new to the ocean and the last thing you want to happen is lose your booty to a lowly pirate. A guide will ought to fix that, this guide specifically!

Beginner’s Guide | Arcane Odyssey

To begin your epic journey, we’ll have you read through some of the things the game lets you have fun with like magic, the lay of the land, and maybe even your very first rowboat! You have to start somewhere right? Let’s make that journey less confusing with a short guide.

When you first spawn into the game, you’re basically a nobody. All you have are the crusty clothes on your back, fix that by doing your first quest where you need to go to Redwake. You only have a dinghy with you so think twice before you head into open waters as that will just end up with you being shark bait.

Luckily, the game isn’t too harsh as there’s a way around those waves.  Stick to where the waters behave in a calm manner and you’ll eventually get to Redwake unscathed. A few pirates will be terrorizing the island but you only need to defeat 5 of them to scare off the rest.

After liberating Redwake the next thing you want to do is start doing quests for people, you’ll know if they have something for you when they have a floating icon above their head. Do as many as you can as quests are one of the best ways to earn exp in the game, aside from grinding Rasna Cargo but that’s for later!

You’d want to do these quests as the exp you get from them will give you stat points that you can invest into either Vitality, Magic, Strength or even Weapons. All of that information will be found under your stamina bar next to your inventory.

Be careful when doing combat because when you chain attacks while you’re in the air it chips away at your stamina every time you swing, this doesn’t happen when you have your feet planted on the ground so don’t get too surprised if you run out of either stamina or energy without any warning.

You can’t navigate the high seas while looking like a git, no one will take you seriously! Fix that by going to the Tailor to get some new swanky threads, save your crimes for later as Geirlaug won’t talk to you if you have a bounty. Clear that bounty by talking to the local Redwake Warrior Gisli. You can find him in front of The Red Fin tavern.

Getting around is made easy at times due to the fact that you can scale walls, it does eat away at your stamina so don’t let it reach to zero unless there’s something soft for you to land on. Might be useful to get yourself out of a jam if you ever happen to fly too close to the sun.

And that’s most of what you need to know to get you started. Stay around Redwake for a while as you do your quests and you’ll establish yourself financially in a short amount of time. This is where your adventure begins!

Here we have Alexis, he's been gaming ever since the second Famicom came out. Which is probably the reason why he goes back to platformers every now and then. Somewhere down the line he started getting more and more fascinated about looking at maps change colors for three to eight hours straight. If he's not out strategizing and beating the life out of his space bar in that order there's a good chance you can find him playing an FPS or talking someone's ear out about how game balance gets in the way of realism. You can tell that he really likes getting the full experience of whatever he gets his hands on.
