Apply Pressure At The Right Moments
When many players face an SR Kido in Type Soul, they tend to be either too aggressive or too passive. Most rookies will get too aggressive which results in them walking into SR Kido’s powerful moves like True Power.
On the other hand, you cannot get too passive with SR Kido either. Otherwise, you will not be able to deal any damage to him. In this way, eventually, you’ll find yourself defeated.
One great way to pressure an SR Kido is during their Goryutenmetsu or Dragons move. During this move, SR Kido is stuck in a small animation where he takes time to activate the move.
So, you can push the SR Kido and deal some damage to them. At the same time, if you can block the move that will be even better. Make sure you pressure them during this move so that they do not get comfortable.
At the same time, SR Kido has a bunch of moves that consume a lot of Rei. For example, the Teppusatsu move in Type Soul will consume almost a whole bar of Rei.
So, you should apply pressure when an SR Kido uses moves that consume a lot of Rei. It is likely that they do not have enough Rei to do follow up moves to push you away. In doing so, you can damage the SR Kido for a good bit until they get enough Rei to push you back.
Learning to pressure an SR Kido at the right moments. However, there are certain moves that you should avoid pressuring the SR Kido at, which we’ll look at next.
Respect SR Kido’s Moves
While pressuring an SR Kido in Type Soul is important, it does not mean that you get aggressive entirely. There are certain moves that you will absolutely need to respect or you will get punished really badly.
The first of these moves are the ones known as Get Off Mes by the community. These are moves that force an opponent away from the fight to remove pressure.
An SR Kido has quite a few moves like these, such as Teppusatsu or Haien. These are moves that deal a lot of damage if you walk into them. So, when an SR Kido uses these moves make sure that you either stay away or block them if they are blockable.
At the same time, be aware that SR Kido can also use True Power which is a devastating move. It’ll not only deal a lot of damage to you but also stun you. Quite a few players will also try to use their own moves during True Power to counter them. However, True Power will interrupt them during their animation and get them stunned.
So, make sure that you are aware of these moves and always respect them when facing an SR Kido in Type Soul. Also, did you know that you can also make another Kido build in the form of the Vastocar Light Build?
Learn to Punish SR Kido

In essence, you will need to constantly dodge SR Kido’s attacks, punish him, keep your distance and repeat the cycle. Each of these actions will depend on the situation.
We have a situation shown below where the opponent first kept distance and dodged SR Kido’s Get Off Me move. After that, the player immediately got aggressive and punished him, doing a lot of damage.
Additionally, it will also help if you can learn to block moves reliably. Doing so will allow you to deal with his Dragons move better and give you more of a chance to punish him. At the same time, you can also impact his Posture meter which will put more and more pressure.
Be Unpredictable in Your Movements
Another mistake that many players make when facing an SR Kido in Type Soul is being very predictable with their moments. For example, they will always attack from the left or a specific way that they are comfortable with.
Doing this too many times will allow the SR Kido to predict where you will go. In this way, they can place their Get Off Me moves and you’ll always end up landing on them. This will lead to you losing a lot of health.
So, make sure you are always varying your movements. Try to move from the left, from the right and sometimes just back off. By being unpredictable, you will throw off your SR Kido opponent and they will end up wasting their Rei heavy moves.
Remain Calm and Do Not Throw Your Advantage Away
One important factor that can make or break a fight against an SR Kido in Type Soul is remaining calm.
Since SR Kido is so powerful, he always has the opportunity to turn the tide in his favor. So, if you have an advantage against him, make sure that you do not lose your calm. If this happens, then you’ll end up getting too aggressive resulting in you taking a lot of damage.
We understand that players can get restless when they are close to defeating an SR Kido. However, you should ensure that you continue to keep fighting as skillfully as you have been doing from the start.
