It’s a new year at that means new games coming out, we are all looking forward to the new additions to our gaming libraries. Still, there are old games out there that are also getting sequels this year, and we’ve hype building up for them the past year, we can’t wait for them to release! There’s a lot of sequels planned on releasing this year and a lot of them are big name games with large followings. We’ll show you 10 of the biggest video game sequels in 2023.

Of course even though these games have been announced to release this year, there’s always a chance they’ll get delayed. Hopefully it doesn’t happen for these games unless they really need to, so if keep an eye out for news of these games. Here are 10 sequels that are planned to release this year!
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
The Star Wars Jedi game’s sequel continues the story of the first one with new stakes, new places and new adventure. Not only will there be new mechanics and such but they’ve also revealed plans of the game being more optimized than the first one with better loading times. They also promised better graphics from better dynamic lighting through ray-tracing and even more dynamic combat.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
The first Spider Man game by Insomniac Games was widely regarded as their best game yet and now with a new one coming out fans are excited. The new game will feature Miles Morales as well so fans of the movie and the character should feel hyped about this game.
Street Fighter 6
The Street Fighter series has been a long standing fighting game up there with games like Tekken and Guilty Gear. Fans of the series has been longing for a new game though since the last one was way back in 2016, now their prayers are answered with a name game coming out!
S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 Heart of Chornobyl
Despite the situation in Ukraine, the developers of the well beloved STALKER series have been working hard with their new game. Despite being called STALKER 2 it’s actually going to be the fourth game in the franchise, but this one is going to be a more modern take on the game with updated graphics, mechanics and gameplay.
The Wolf Among Us 2
The Wolf Among Us along with The Walking Dead games has always been one of the top games from Telltale Studios. A sequel to The Wolf Among Us has been in the works for a while now and only recently did we see new information on the game being developed. Still, fans of the developers and their games have been waiting for this one for a long time!
Frostpunk 2
The first Frostpunk game is one of the better city builders out there combining great city building and management along with a gripping story of your city trying to survive the harsh apocalypse. The game features heavy choices and mechanics that will make you question if doing these bad choices for the good of the city is worth it. Now with a sequel coming up we’ll see more of those choices that will weigh heavy in our minds.
State of Decay 3
Fans of the State of Decay games might have been a little disappointed on the release of the second game but for those who stayed it became better with more updates. Now they’ve announced that there’s a new State of Decay game and hopefully they learn from their past mistakes. Still, there’s been a lack of zombie games lately so we’re excited for this one!
Like a Dragon 8
Fans of the Yakuza games now have a game to look forward to since this new game features a continuation of Kiryuu’s story along with Ichiban Kasuga. Expect an amazing story to follow as well as dozens of side content that you will spend hours for and completely forget about the main story. The Yakuza games really has a lot of fun side quests and here’s hoping it’s the same in the new game!
Final Fantasy XVI
There’s a new Final Fantasy game that’s going to come out to no one’s surprise, just look at the number, yeah it’s been that many! Still, for Final Fantasy fans who like the gameplay, the amazing graphics, the JRPG mechanics and the characters you’ll love this game! For those who are new to the series don’t worry, you don’t really need to play the other games to understand the newest one!
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
When the first Hellblade came out it surprised a lot with its amazing graphics and thrilling story that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. The developers promised even better graphics than the first, bigger set pieces and even more story for fans to enjoy and experience. Keep an eye out for news of this game as they promise to give out more information on it as the year goes by!
