Undawn is a post-apocalyptic survival game developed by Lightspeed Studios. It takes place after a global outbreak that results in infected roaming about. Players are expected to defeat infected while taking on various quests. Due to the sheer amount of content in the game, beginners might feel overwhelmed. This guide will focus on a couple of Tips and Tricks for beginners.
Tips & Tricks for Beginners
Ammo Crates
In each mission, when you replenish ammo using the giant ammo crates scattered around, it usually provides you with temporary ammo crates.
These ammo crates can be identified using the Red icon that is visible on the top left corner of the sprite.
Now in the mission, when you use the ammo crates using the shortcuts, you might notice that the crates that are not temporary are used. This means that your permanent resources are being used instead of the temporary resources that the game provides. This is wasteful since the temporary ammo will disappear after the mission ends, leaving you with fewer resources.
The workaround for this is shifting to the temporary crates to replenish ammo during the mission. One good practice to follow is to use these crates right at the end of the mission, regardless of how much ammo you have. This will ensure your weapons are fully loaded before the crates disappear from your inventory. This is especially useful in PvP battles since ammo drains quickly in those situations.
Market
Many new players are confused about the different vendors and currencies available in the game. This results in much wasted time as players travel long distances to different vendors and shops to buy items. A good tip is to open the menu and scroll down to the Market option. Select it, and you will be able to take a look at all the currencies in the game and browse the respective stores for them.
The advantage of this method is that it helps to reduce the time spent traveling to different vendors, as all you have to do is choose one particular option. Moreover, for limited-time items, this method is effective as well since you do not have to travel anywhere.
Homestead Storage
The next tip is a general productivity-related one. Since grinding is one of the main premises of the game, you will need to store your loot once you return to your Homestead. A good strategy is to place a storage cabinet right next to the entrance of the base.
This allows you to use the Quick Storage mechanic to deposit and sort your haul quickly. To add additional items may require 20-30 seconds but over the long run, as you do this repeatedly, the time savings are quite significant.
Material Requirements
For beginners, one of the most repeated tasks is looking for information on obtaining various raw materials used for crafting. This often leads to Youtube videos and guides like this one. Undawn has a really good mechanic as it shows you how to obtain a particular material. For instance, if you are looking for copper ore in a recipe, select it and choose the Obtain option.
The How to Obtain menu shows you can obtain Copper from Mining, Trading Posts, or Gold Purchases. If you still need more information regarding a particular method, just select it, and it will reveal additional information.
Level Cap
The last tip we have for beginners is regarding the Level Caps in the game. Undawn uses a two-fold level cap system with a Server Level Cap and a Homestead Level Cap. Players cannot exceed the server level cap or reach the server level cap unless their homestead level cap does not exceed the server level cap.
Beginners are recommended to continuously upgrade their Homestead to ensure that they are not locked from reaching the server level cap. Additionally, it is recommended to complete the daily missions when you log into the game to ensure that you gain the maximum experience point each day.
