There are times in Baldur’s Gate 3 where heavy equipment just doesn’t want to cooperate with you. The Adamantine Forge may look simple from the outside, but boy is it a pain to actually get it to work for some unfortunate people.
If you’ve been trying to use the forge for your own personal gain, then you may have come to realize that it takes more than just pulling levers to get it to work. We’ll talk more about what’s happening with the forge and how you can actually use it in the guide below.
How to Use the Adamantine Forge
To use the forge, you simply have to put a mould into the mould chamber and one ore into the crucible. You can put a mould for a mace or longsword, but we would recommend the Scale Mail and Splint Mould because they look cool. After that just pull the lever across the crucible to lower the platform.
Location
Once you head deeper into the Grymforge, you would’ve already stumbled upon the Adamantine Forge. It’s quite difficult to miss. There’s also a couple of moulds lying around the place for you to insert into the forge. Now, the forge only accepts Mithral Ore, there’s two in the area. One of them will be protected by Magma Mephits.
Possible Bugs and Workaround
Some players have expressed their concerns about the hammer not dropping after they’ve inserted the mould and ore into the forge. Sadly, I’ve also experienced this during a crucial moment where I was fighting Grym.
Once you put the mould and ore into the forge, the platform will lower itself. When you turn the valve that lets the lava pour into the forge, the hammer will refuse to drop for whatever reason.
Players claim that there are strict procedures you need to follow when working the forge for it to not bug out. They even say things like you need to put the ore in first before the mould for it to work. Some even say that your save file might be bugged, which would be the worst case scenario.
Weirdly enough, for my case at least, the bug occurs when you click the box inside of the item window. Click on that once to bring up your inventory and it’s game over for you.
You can still interact with the crucible and mould chamber normally. But once you’re prompted to insert an item into any one of them, don’t go through with it and leave it open.
Instead, open your inventory the old fashioned way by pressing “I.” Choose the mould of your choice again and drag it into the mould chamber. After that you can freely click on ”Insert.”
This goes the same for the ore as well. Now, you can lower the platform and turn the valve to fight for what is rightfully yours! A weird solution yes, but if it works, it just works.
And that’s how you use the Adamantine Forge in Baldur’s Gate 3. Hopefully you didn’t have this problem during your playthrough. But at least now you can use it to get better armor and Defeat the Adamantine Forge Boss Grym!
