With a new location in Genshin Impact, comes new things to look for and collect. One of the things you can find in the new Fontaine region are Mysterious Cores. These floating orbs aren’t usually easy to get as well since they all involve some kind of puzzle. So, you’ll have to find them and solve their puzzles as well. Did I forget to mention that there’s also fights in the middle of the puzzle?
In this guide, we’ll show you all of the Mysterious Core Locations in the map. We’ll also show you how to solve the puzzles around them. Now, get ready to do some exploring and fighting because we’ll do that a lot!
All 7 Mysterious Core Locations
In the new area of the map Fontaine, there are Mysterious Cores scattered around it. These cores need certain blocks to be applied to it, often through a normal attack or powered shot, to unlock them. When you unlock them, they drop a chest for you to loot.
All of them require multiple of these blocks however, and sometimes they’re hidden in different places near the core. After applying a block to the core, monsters will also spawn and you’ll need to clear them out before applying another one. Here are all the Mysterious Cores in the region of Fontaine.
Mysterious Core 1
The first Mysterious Core in the list is on the beaches in the southwestern parts of Fontaine. The core is easy to find since it’s just in front of a waterfall.
The block that you’ll need for the core is just below it, the thing is the core is high up in the air. Use the water tunnel next to the block after picking it up. This will send you to a platform next to the core where you can just apply it using a normal attack.
Once you apply the block, a bunch of enemies will appear, and you’ll need to clear them. After that’s done, another block will appear nearby below the core. Then, you’ll have to do it again, use the water tunnel, go up, apply to the core and clear the enemies.
When applying the third block, no enemies will spawn. Instead, the platform you’re on will disappear and a chest will appear below the core.
Mysterious Core 2
The second Mysterious Core on the list is east of the previous one and this time it’s not on the shores. Instead, it’s a bit in-land and is next to a few trees. You can use the image below as a reference.
Near the Mysterious Core is a few trees and near them is the first block. This Core is floating in the air so you might need to do a jumping attack or a powered shot from a ranged character to apply the blocks. Same as all cores, once you apply the block enemies will spawn. Clear them to spawn the next block.
The next block is again near the trees, you can use the minimap below as a reference on where it is.
The last block will be near the core and since it’s the last once you apply it the chest will appear nearby. Now, you can get the loot!
Mysterious Core 3
For the next Mysterious Core, we’ll need to cross the waters and go northwest of the previous one. This one is on the shores again but on top of a wooden platform.
Like the previous cores, this one is floating high above the air. The block is nearby on the pier next to some crates. Once apply the block a bunch of enemies will spawn as always. When you clear them, the next block will appear.
The next block will spawn on top of a platform that you can use to get to the core. No need for ranged characters this time.
Once you’ve cleared the second wave of enemies, another block and platform will spawn again. This is the last one and once you apply it the core and platform will disappear. The chest will then spawn on the pier near the crates.
Mysterious Core 4
For the next Mysterious Core, we’ll be diving down the underwater areas of Fontaine. This one is just south of the Salacia Plain, again you can use the image below as a reference.
For this core, you’ll need to get the power from one of those blue scuttle bugs. You can use your normal attack to get the buff from them. Once you do that, you’ll get the skill that is a shield that spawns a shockwave. Use that to destroy the rock with blue cracks shown on the image below near the core.
Once the rock is destroyed the first block will be there, you can then get it and apply it to the core. Same as the other cores enemies will spawn so watch out.
The next block is on a rock near the core that is inside a rock marked with yellow cracks. You can used a charged up normal attack to break it. This will be the last block so once you apply it the chest will appear.
Mysterious Core 5
The next Mysterious Core is in Salacia Plain just on top of the name on the map. This one core is near a couple of enemies, so it’s best to clear them out before doing this one.
Near the core is an Echoing Conch Shell, activate it to find the first block. Once you activate it, you’ll see blue circles showing the possible locations of the block.
The one we’re looking for is just below the Core shown on the image below. Go near it and dig up the block to apply it to the core. Clear the enemies and activate the Echoing Conch again.
This time there will be multiple locations, the one we’re looking for is on the image below. The other ones when dug up will spawn enemies. This is again the last block, so once you apply it you get your prize!
Mysterious Core 6
For the next Mysterious Core, we’ll need to go to the north of the Salacia Plain. This core is next to a bunch of giant underwater lily pads. I personally don’t know what to call them, so we’ll stick with that.
The first block we’re looking for is on top of the lily pad plant shown below. Same as the other cores just take it and attack the core to apply it. Enemies will spawn and you’ll need to clear them so the next block spawns.
After the enemies are cleared, the next block will be on the same place. That’s nice of them to spawn it on the same place this time.
Since it’s spawned in such an easy to find place, of course, this is going to be a 3-block core. Once you apply the second block, enemies will spawn. Clear them and the last block will spawn on the same location.
Mysterious Core 7
The last Mysterious Core in the list is further north and southeast of the Thalatta Submarine Canyon area. This one is in a valley, so you might miss it if you’re not careful.
For this mysterious core, we’ll need to get the buff from the flat blue fish shown below. I know it looks like a stingray, but I bet they have some weird name for it, it’s a fantasy game after all. Once you get the power, use the skill to cut the seaweed that is holding the block near the flat fish.
Same as the other cores just take the block, attack the core and spawn the enemies and clear them.
The next block will spawn just below the core and will be trapped in seaweed again. Same as before use the cutting skill to cut it. This is the last block so once you apply it, you’ll get the chest!
