How To Find The Caretaker Of Books
First, you need to find clues on how where to look for the Caretaker of Books, which is right before the southwest gate from the courtyard.
Over at where there are stacks of books on the table next to the cart, use your Eagle Vision and there’ll be something you can interact with.
That’ll reveal information about missing books that are yet to be returned, including the “ancient manuscript written in an unknown knowledge.”
Once you do, your quest will update with new information: The Caretaker might be in the Southwest Wing.
So, go through the gate into the Southwest Wing. The door to your left here is the area where you’ll find the Caretaker. Get ready to fight several enemies along the way.
Go up the stairs and then turn left. There should be another set of stairs to go down immediately to reach the area with books.
In the corner of the room across you is where the Caretaker is but you have to deal with an elite enemy blocking the way. Don’t forget about the chest before you enter the room!
After that, you’ll find the Caretaker slumped on the chair inside the small room, presumably dead.
