World of Warcraft Classic is the closest thing you will see to a remaster about the WoW franchise. It is a faithful recreation of the early beginning of the story and the game really looks and feels like you are back in 2006 and with 2010 with the Lich King expansion.

Professions have changed in a big way from TBC, and it makes you wonder which one is for you, because choosing a profession is a big deal – you spend tremendous amounts of time on it.

There are 14 professions in total, and here we will discuss what overpowers them over the others, as well as what is new in this expansion.

Classic WoW – Wrath Of The Lich King: Profession Picking Guide

1. Engineering

Engineering in Wrath of the Lich King is a lot like Vanilla. It is simply the strongest profession. It can improve your character both in PvP and PvE situations.

Some people can even say that if you are not an engineer you are at a disadvantage, especially with these Tinker upgrades:

  • Runic Mana / Health Injector
  • Mind Amplification Dish
  • Hand-Mounter Pyro Rocket
  • Hyperspeed Accelerator
  • Nitro Boosts
  • Flexweave Underlay
  • Cobalt Frag Belt
  • Jeeves – a portable bank where ever you please, as well as blacksmith repair tool
  • Mechano-Hog – who doesn’t want this badass motorbike. You can also sell it for tons of gold
  • MOLL-E – Portable mailbox that you can summon wherever you are
  • Gnomish X-Ray Specs – it come very handy for extra research for your spare time

2. Jewelcrafting

Many people would argue that Jewelcrafting is the 2nd best profession in the game. The ability to craft very unique and strong gems to add to your gear as well as make tons of gold makes it the best after Engineering.

There are 3 types of gems.

  • Green and common – 5gold
  • Blue and rare – 60gold
  • Purple and epic – 100gold
  • Nightmare Tear
  • Runed Dragon’s Eye
  • Stormy Dragon’s Eye
  • Delicate’s Dragon Eye
  • Mystic Dragon’s Eye
  • All sorts of random diamonds that you can use, or sell
  • Prospecting – making tons of gold in a very easy manner

3. Alchemy

Alchemy is the 3rd best, and besides drinking all sorts of elixirs and flasks, in Wrath of Lich King you have other new items to use as well.

  • Mighty Alhemist’s Stone
  • Indestructible Alchemist’s Stone
  • Mercurial Alchemist’s Stone
  • Crazy Alchemist’s Potion
  • Flask of the North
  • Mixology – a passive ability that increases effect and duration for every potion drank

4. Skinning

Skinning can be put into the 4th best, because of how simple and easy it can be – you hunt an animal, and you skin it. Can be good for passives, and good for gaining gold.

There are 6 new types of leathers:

  • Borean Leather and Nerubian Chiting – 2.5 and 6 gold
  • Jormungar Scale – 20  gold
  • Icy Dragon Scale – 20 gold
  • Heavy Borean Leather – 27 gold
  • Arctic Fur – 60 gold
  • Icescale Leg Armor – the best in-slot armor
  • Master of Anatomy – amazing passive skill

5. Tailoring

Very similar to The Burning Crusade and Vannila but in Lich King there are new editions.

  • Northern Cloth Scavenging
  • Frosty Flying Carpet – only available for tailors
  • Darkglow Embroidery
  • Lightweave Emrboidery
  • Swordguard Emrboidery
  • Master’s and Sanctified Spellthread

6. Blacksmithing

One of the hardest and slowest to level, while in the same time requiring crazy amounts of materials with the most tedious profession quests. In the Burning Crusade it brought a lot of good craftable weapons, but in Lich King the big thing is the extra sockets.

  • Socket Bracer and Socket Gloves – for adding something like Agility, Attack Power, Strength, Critical Strike , Dodge etc.
  • Eternal Belt Buckle – also very sellable for high prices

Craftable items mostly like Plate armor, so very good for Paladins, Death Knights and Warriors. Goes very good with Mining which help eachother out.

7. Inscription

This is the new profession in Wrath of the Lich King allowing all players to brand new features. The major thing with this profession, are of course the glyphs. They can be Major, or Minor which enhances on casting on spells. This can really alter your gameplay.

  •    Vellums for every type of armor
  • Scrolls and Tomes
  •  Master Inscriptions – usable only for this profession

It matches with Herbalism, in fact, it cannot go without it. Very good with Mages, Druids, Warlocks, Shamans, Priests.

8. Leatherworking

Although very similar to The Burning Crusade ,there are some new editions here.

  • Drums of the Wild
  • Fur Linings – enchantments for bracers and legs

Mostly craftable gear for Hunters, Rouges, Druids and Shamans. So recommended for them.

9. Herbalism

Herbalism was a very good source of income before, but now it is connected more with other professions like Alchemy and Inscription. So even more gold and materials.

  • Lifeblood – a passive skill

10. Enchanting

In Wrath of the Lich King it got big changes mostly through the Vellums and new enchants and of course, the ring enchants from The Burning Crusade.

  • Vellums
  • New weapon enchants – ex. Berzerking

11. Mining

The most favourite profession to get for your alt character for materials and money making.

  • Toughness – amazing passive skill

12. Fishing

Mostly very unique experience, because of the new fishing events in Wrath of the Lich King

  • Gigantic Feasts, Fish, Meat…

13. Cooking

If you are a good human being, go for it. Tons of boosts for everyone around you.

  • Great Feast

14. First Aid

There is no downside of having it, really.

  • Heavy Frostweave Bandage – new in Lich King

He has been an active member of the gaming community from a very young age, specifically from 2003 when he first played Warcraft 3 and discovered tachycardia from how enjoyable and relaxing it was. Gaming for him has been, and still is a way of life style. He loves delving deep into whatever it is he is playing, losing himself into countless of hours discovering everything there is that created that video game. He learns about the backstories, about the development, the creators, fan theories and boy oh boy he's open for discussions about what makes a game great and what doesn't. He can play everything from small Indie games , to big triple A titles. His theory about games is this : small details make big games. So that is why whatever it is that he is playing, he is the guy who discovers 99% of the maps with every little side quest or trophy to be found. That is why his favourite genre is RPG. Having the big explorable created world at your fingertips, where everything from a scary bloodsucking demon to a friendly talking goat can be found and interacted with, as well as immersing yourself into the roleplay game you are playing, is fascinating for him. He is a laid back type of gamer, after a rich history of getting his ass kicked in competitive games. He is very passionate about writing blogs and articles about games, as it is soothing and meditating for him.
