With Souls-like games, there are a lot of quests that you can do but usually you’re not shown how to do them. There’s no journal or hand-holding involved. Usually, you’ll have to figure it out yourself or go with some guides. In Lords of the Fallen, they follow this tradition, and the Iron Wayfarer side quest is one that can easily be missed. You’ll need to go to a lot of different locations to progress this quest to the end.
In this guide, we’ll show you how you can do this quest and also how to get The Last Step trophy in the game. Just be warned, this quest can only be done with a specific ending.
The Iron Wayfarer Side Quest Guide | The Last Step Trophy Guide
The path to the Last Step trophy is a long one and most of the game. You can’t get to the last step without going for the Umbral ending, so keep that in mind.
Also, you can’t get this achievement if you’re going for the other endings the game has. Now, let’s see how you can get this achievement.
Location #1
Most of this quest involves looking for the Iron Wayfarer in different parts of the map and story. The first location is in the Defiled Sepulchre.
From the Vestige of Ranik, go to the left down the path until you see the area below. Go forward and continue down the path.
Stick to the left as you go through this area shown below and you’ll find a chasm. The Iron Wayfarer is on the other side.
To go to the other side, use the Umbral Lamp and enter the Umbral Plane to get through the place.
You can then talk to the Iron Wayfarer. Make sure to talk to him a bunch of times, so you know you’ve exhausted all of his dialogue.
Location #2
The next area where you can find the Iron Wayfarer is at the Redcopse Village entrance. From the Vestige of Hannelore, go left and follow the path shown below.
While going there, stick to the right and you’ll see this plank bridge that leads to some ruins. Go through the bridge and into the ruins.
Continue down the path sticking to the left until you reach a ladder. Go up that ladder and then go right dropping down the ledge. Afterwards, head left to an open area.
There, you’ll find the Iron Wayfarer near some braziers. Talk to him and continue with the next location.
Location #3
The next location can be found in the Forsaken Fen area of the map. From the Vestige of Valade, head right and follow the path up the slope.
You’ll then find a plank bridge that you’ll need to cross. Keep to the path sticking to the left.
Once you go past an archway with some torches, go forward to another similar archway. There, you’ll find a giant bonfire.

Go past the bonfire and head to the area shown below. Follow the wooden plank path going through another smaller archway.
Once you get past the archway, the wooden path goes left. Instead, go forward, and to the right where you’ll find the Iron Wayfarer.
Location #4
For the next location, we’ll be going to the Lower Calrath Alehouse. From the Vestige of Lydia the Numb Witch, we’ll go left and down a couple of stairs.
You’ll then want to go outside of the room using the doorway shown below.
When you go through the doorway, head to the right and go down a ladder. You’ll see a stone bridge below, cross that bridge.
Once you get to the other side of the bridge, go left and there, you’ll find the Iron Wayfarer moping around in a corner.
Location #5
The next location is in the Upper Calrath. From the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian, go outside of the room where the vestige is and head right.
Follow the path until you see a statue and a wooden gate to the right.
Use the Umbral Lamp to phase through the gate and continue following the path heading left.
You’ll go through this large open area with corpses around, one of the awesome sights this game can offer. Go through the big archway and to the right is a staircase that goes up.
Once you’re up the stairs, head to the right and you’ll find an area you can go down towards the streets below.
Jump down the streets and follow it to the left, you’ll go through another archway and then head to the right into a building.
Once you’re inside the building, go to the left and immediately turn left again and you’ll find some wooden beams to the right.
Use the Umbral Lamp again to phase through this wooden obstacle and continue down the path to the left.
Go to the Umbral realm and watch the Stigma in the area. There, you’ll find the Iron Wayfarer behind the Stigma.
Talk to him and make sure to exhaust all of his dialogue options. Then, rest up in a Vestige and go back to this area again for the next location.
NOTE: He might glitch out here and not move from this area after repeating the dialogue. If this happens, quit the game and load back again to hopefully fix it.
Location #6
When you go back to the area shown on the previous location, you’ll want to follow the path outside. From there, follow the path shown below sticking to the right wall.
You’ll go to another building that has another Stigma inside. Same as before, view it and talk to the Iron Wayfarer next to it.
Location #7
For the next location, you don’t have to walk far from a vestige. He’ll be found in the Manse Supply Pathway near the Vestige of Ferrers the Charred. Just look to the left and you’ll find him there.
Location #8
For the last location, you’ll need to progress the story until you reach the Abbey of the Hallowed Sisters. There, you’ll need to take the Rune of Adyr shown below.
Moreover, there will be a boss fight here. Once you’re done with it, the Iron Wayfarer will take the rune.
New Stigma Outside Of Skyrest
Now, after you’ve met him on the last location, a new Stigma will appear in the game. You can find it outside of Skyrest.
From the Vestige of Ethryg, go directly the opposite of where it is down the hallway. Go up the left staircase and up another spiral staircase.
Go outside the doorway and then head forward through the area shown below.
Follow the path up the big stairway and you’ll see the Stigma there. Same as all the others, go to the Umbral Plane and view it.
Defeat the Iron Wayfarer
The next step is to defeat the Iron Wayfarer himself. Continue the story until you reach the Upper Calrath which you can get to from the Vestige of the Forgotten Guardian.
Head outside of the room of the Vestige and go forward. Then, use the Umbral Lamp to go through the barrier.
There, you’ll have to fight the Iron Wayfarer himself and defeat him. You’ll get his weapon as well as the Rune of Adyr.
Finishing The Quest
Finally, the last part of the quest will need you to go to the Fief of the Chill Curse. From the Vestige of Svornil, go face the opposite of the vestige and climb the ladder to the right.
Once you’re on top, go to the right again and climb the ladder there.
When you get to the top of that ladder, it’ll lead you to a straightforward path around the wooden platforms which leads to the forest.
At the very end of the forest path is a barred gate. To the left of it is another ladder you can go up to.
Once you’re up the ladder, drop down to the right and you’ll get to the Fief of the Chill Curse. Walk up the path a bit and enter the Umbral Plane. There, you’ll find the Iron Wayfarer near the cliff.
Talk to him and give him the Withered Rune of Adyr which you’ll get when following the Umbral ending.
When you give it to him, you’ll get his armor as well as the Last Step trophy as that’s the end of the quest!
