Overwatch 2 – Fix Crash & Freezing on PC

How to fix those annoying crashes and freezes in Overwatch 2?

As we know, Overwatch 2 is going through a little rough patch right now. Most of the players experience problems left and right, but for some, the main issue is those constant crashes and freezes.

Here we will discuss a couple of ways to get them fixed. Let’s get started.

Fix Crash & Freezing on PC – Overwatch 2

Verify Integrity Of Game Files

Making sure that your game files are up to date is very important. Open up your Battle Net launcher, while Overwatch is not running in the background, click on the options button next to the Play button. Now select Scan and Repair.

It’ll take a minute, but it will download new files, and replace the corrupted ones.

Game Compatability

Find the game located on your Hard Disk. Usually, it’s Program files > Overwatch > _beta_ > then you need to right-click the Overwatch.exe application and choose Properties.

Go into the Compatability tab and select the Disable full-screen optimisations.

Display Settings

Right-click anywhere on your Desktop. Choose the Display Settings options. Make sure that the scaling is set to 100%(or Recommended one). Use a normal native resolution. In-game, also set the game in Full Screen in the settings menu.

Task Manager

Open up the task manager by writing into the Windows Search bar(left bottom corner). Under the Processes tab, find and terminate any programs that might be running in the background and interfere with the game. Anything high CPU intensive apps like maybe Shadowplay, OB applications, Steam, Geforce Experience, etc.

Update Graphics Driver

Whatever Graphics Driver you might be using, update it and make sure it’s up to date with any new changes that might have been released. Sometimes some updates are specifically made for certain games, Overwatch 2 is the same case.

Nvidia Image Scaling

If you are using Nvidia, open the Geforce Experience application. Open the settings menu(next to the top right icon) and activate Image Scaling.

Windows Update

Search for Update in the Windows Search bar(bottom left corner). Select the Update option and in this window, you’ll see a button Check for Updates. Click it and wait for a while. It might take some download time, and maybe a restart will be required. This might also help with this issue.

Lower In-game Graphics Settings

For the last option, just put everything to the lowest in terms of graphics and visuals in the settings menu in-game. This might help those crash issues as well.

I hope this helped and solved this problem for you. Good luck!
