Although everyone has their fair share of opinions and thoughts about this new upcoming game, here we will discuss what is confirmed and what can we confirm ourselves by looking at the dev’s Twitter posts. Let’s get started.
Everything We Know (Confirmed & Unconfirmed Information) The NEW Riot MMO
Confirmed Information:
It might be very early in the development phase, so nothing can be really confirmed. But this is as close as we can get to stable known facts about Riot MMO.
- From all the developer’s posts on Twitter, we can confirm that indeed the new game will be an MMO
- We have clarification from these same posts again that it will be an MMORPG
- The name will not be World of Runeterra
- All the senior roles of production have been filled out. This means that the game’s director or tech leaders are most likely found and probably the full production of the game might start somewhere in 2022(just a guess)
- It is going to be a Beginner / Casual MMO
- The game will not be released if it’s not in a stable and working condition. This means that the production might be prolonged and not rushed if necessary
- There will be Alpha versions of the game for players to playtest. They will want a thorough test and feedback from players as the game is being developed
- PvP will be in the game
- Raids will be included, as well as Dungeons
- Very likely to have Action Combat(although not certain as of yet)
- Based on all the posts, most likely it will be using Unreal Engine
- Fishing can be done in-game
- New dev diaries and updates in 2022
Speculative Information:
- Third Person Camera? Might be possible
- Less character customization for better gameplay and balance purposes. They want to make it equal for everybody and no means of getting overpowered
- They seem to be leaning into a group size of 6 players
- Unpredictability on various sorts of enemies. Harder to take down mobs as well as many roads and guides to reaching your goal in-game
- In terms of Innovation, they will stick to fairly standard experiences from other MMORPG games. Might be a good thing, as experimenting can lead to a downfall
- Big Rewards Systems. Even the most basic casual player can get tons of rewards playing on their own terms
- No Racials. This is done for better balance
- The game will be made to be playable on low specs machines. They are aiming for a wide audience
- Maybe no Talent trees in-game
- Verb Ecosystem which most likely is similar to Guild Wars 2
- Cartoony Graphics
- Released in Early 2026?
