There are a lot of difficult maps that you can try to clear in Tower Defense X. Most of them need the player to have a plan to clear them with specific towers.
However, there are ways that you can clear these difficult maps with just the beginner towers. One such level is Apocalypse, and you can beat it on Expert mode with simple towers.
In this guide, we’ll show you how you can solo the Apocalypse map in Expert Mode. We’ll only be using beginner towers, and we’ll need a good strategy.
Solo Expert Mode With Beginner Loadout Guide
The map that we’ll be doing this is the Apocalypse map on Expert Mode. This is one of the hardest maps to deal with, especially with the tough mobs and the boss.
We’ll have to set things up properly and use Mine Layers in the end to defeat it.
Towers Needed
Here are all the towers you’ll need to beat this map in Expert Mode:
- Sniper
- Missile Trooper
- EDJ
- Mine Layer
- Barracks
- Farm
These are all beginner towers but don’t underestimate them. Most of these towers would rank high if they’re put on a Tier List, especially the EDJ and the Missile Trooper!
Wave 1 – 7
For the first few waves, you’ll want to place 2 snipers in the area shown below. You’ll then want to upgrade both of them to 2-1.
At around Wave 6, place another Sniper and upgrade it to 2-1 as well. Then, place a Missile Trooper and upgrade it to 2-2.
Wave 8 – 13
When you reach Wave 8, that’s where the hidden troops will appear. Most likely you’ll miss one or two at this stage.
This is when you place 4 Barracks anywhere on the map. The units the barracks will spawn will take care of stragglers. Start upgrading one of the barracks to 0-2.
NOTE: At this point, set all your non-barracks troops to attack the strongest units. Let the barracks deal with the weaker ones.
At around Wave 10, place a farm and upgrade it to 1-1 to help with the cash flow. Upgrade the Missile Trooper to 3-2. Continue upgrading the one barracks’ bottom path. Then, upgrade the farm to a 2-3.
Wave 14 – 20
Place 2 more farms and then upgrade them to 2-3. Once all the farms are 2-3, upgrade one to 2-4. Then, place an EDJ near where the main towers are.
Upgrade all the Snipers to at least 2-2 before upgrading two of them to 4-2. Then, upgrade the Missile Trooper to 4-2.
Upgrade two farms to 4-2 and one farm to 2-4. Then, place a 1-4, 2-1, and 2-2 farm at around Wave 20.
Wave 21 – 25
When the cash comes, upgrade both the 2-1 and 2-2 farms to 2-3. When the tough mobs appear in Wave 22, upgrade the Missile Trooper to 5-2. Upgrade your first farm to 2-5.
Upgrade the EDJ to 0-3 place two Snipers and upgrade it to 4-2. Make sure they’re within range of the EDJ.
Upgrade the barracks from 0-3 to 0-4 and upgrade the rest to 0-4 as well. Upgrade two farms to 2-5 and place as many farms as you can until you reach the limit.
Wave 26 – 29
Place another 4-2 Sniper around the EDJ. Upgrade 2 farms to 2-5 and upgrade the EDJ to 0-5. Then, add another 4-2 Sniper.
Once you’ve done that, place another EDJ on top of the first one and upgrade it to 5-0.
If things get too slow, remember to use the Speed Boost if you can. Just don’t use it when things are getting hairy!
Now, all you need to do is add 4-2 Snipers making sure they’re around the EDJ with the biggest area until you reach the end of Wave 29.
Wave 30 – 32
At Wave 30, start placing a bunch of Mine Layers along the path from the spawn. Then, continue adding 5-2 Snipers all around the sniper blob near the EDJs.
At the start of Wave 31, upgrade all of your Barracks to 2-5.
Keep on adding more Snipers to your blob and upgrading them to 5-2. Delete some Mine Layers down the path once the enemies die fast enough to not reach them.
Wave 33 – 39
Place an EDJ in the area shown below and then upgrade it to 1-5. Afterwards, start placing Mine Layers around the bend and upgrading them to 2-5 making sure they’re under the EDJ’s buff zone.
SIDE NOTE: If you’re hitting the 100-tower limit, sell the farms without any upgrades and some of the Snipers farthest from the enemy spawn.
Do this until you reach around Wave 38 in that area. It doesn’t matter if not all of them are at 2-5, just make sure a majority of them are.
Place as many around the EDJ and then expand the line to the enemy spawn until you reach the number.
Wave 40 (Final)
This is where most of the micro in the strategy will be. When the boss spawns you’ll want to place as many Mine Layers as possible on its path.
This will make sure its AOE missile attack won’t hit the important towers.
NOTE: Don’t forget to sell all your farms on the final wave.
Start selling the Sniper Towers when they’re getting damaged, so you can save money for later towers.
The goal is to stall the boss for as long as possible, so that the Mine Layers down the path can place enough mines.
When you lose/sell all your Snipers near the entrance, continue placing Mine Layers. While doing this, start placing 2-5 and 5-2 Snipers to deal with smaller enemies.
Use the cash you got from selling the Snipers to upgrade the remaining Mine Layers that you’ve missed.
Once the boss reaches the area with the mines, start selling the Mine Layers before they die. Then, start adding 2-5 Snipers and 5-2 Rocket Troopers as the boss goes through the mines.
Keep adding the troopers until the boss dies.
That’s how you can Solo Expert Mode with the Beginner Loadout in Tower Defense X. Now, go out there and try it out yourself!
