With big updates comes new content and usually new mechanics to learn in the game. It’s always fun to have major updates for your favorite games, so that you can continue exploring them and experience more.
In Grounded, they’ve released the 1.4 update that added a bunch of stuff, including Ant Queens! You can befriend them or even kill them by infecting or poisoning them!
In this guide, we’ll show you how you can poison and infect the Black Ant Queen in the game. It requires a specific item that you’ll need to find the recipe first! Now, let’s see where we can find this item.
How To Poison & Infect The Black Ant Queen
With the new 1.4 update for Grounded, they’ve added Ant Queens to the different Any Colonies in the game. These Ant Queens can be offered gifts to get rewards but you can also poison or infect them to kill them. Don’t worry, you get rewards for that too!
Here are the steps that you’ll need to take to Poiston & Infect the Black Ant Queen:
- Defeat the Assistant Manager Boss.
- Get the Infected Gum Sandwich Recipe.
- Craft an Infected Gum Sandwich.
- Offer the item to the Black Ant Queen.
- Successfully poison the Black Ant Queen and get the loot!

Detailed Walkthrough
To poison or infect the Black Ant Queen, you’ll first need to find the recipe to craft an item that can poison it. To do that, you’ll want to go to the southwestern corner of the map inside the labs. There, you’ll have to defeat the Assistant Manager Boss.
Once you’ve defeated the boss, you can find a door in the boss arena that opens up to a hallway and a room like the one below. There, on top of one of the tables is the recipe that we’re looking for!
The recipe is called the Infected Gum Sandwich, and that’s step 1 of this process complete!
Now, all you need to do is craft one of these items. The Infected Gum Sandwich requires the following ingredients:
- 2 x Cookie Sandwich Bits
- 5 x Gum Nugget
- 30 x Fungal Growth
Now that you have the item, all you need to do is go to the Black Ant Queen and offer the Infected Gum Sandwich! If you don’t know where to find the Black Ant Queen in her colony, then check out our guide on the Ant Queen locations for more information.
Once you offer the item, the Queen will eat it and do an animation where it dies. You can then loot the corpse and get some high-end items!
