Despite being a relatively long JRPG, the newly released Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes starts you off with a measly 30 inventory slots. There are ways to increase this number, however, and in this guide, we will show you one of the ways you can do this and give you some more room for all that valuable loot.
How to Increase Backpack Capacity
This is going to sound rather silly, but one of the ways you can increase your backpack’s capacity in the game is by recruiting a bag. No, that isn’t a typo, you are going to be adding a “bag” to your party (we aren’t exactly sure what it really is).
Basically, once you progress far enough into the main questline, you will eventually make it to the city of Hishahn. You go to this destination as a part of the story itself, so you can’t possibly miss it.
Once you reach this point, you can immediately search for and recruit Nell, who is, for the lack of a better description, a strange being in a bag. Refer to the map below to see where it will be hiding.
Nell is easy to miss if you don’t know that it exists. Upon reaching the highlighted part of the map, you will spot a stall with a red tarp over it and a comically large backpack on the ground.
Approach the backpack and Nell will reveal itself. After a brief conversation, you can convince it to join you, adding a sentient bag to your potentially long list of allies throughout your journey.
Upon recruiting Nell, you can now head over to an inn and place it in a support slot. This will give you the Mysterious Stowpack buff, which increases your inventory space by just a bit.
Method #2 – Upgrading Your HQ
While having Nell as a support can be quite handy early on, there are much better characters that can take its spot. Luckily, there is another way to increase your inventory capacity after recruiting them.
Now that you have Nell as an ally, you can go over to your HQ and construct the Stowpack Shop, which will increase your inventory and resource bag capacity. This process will cost you 40 pelts and 80 Headquarters Funds.
There are more upgrades down this line that will have similar effects. So, if you are starting to need even more space, just keep progressing through this branch of upgrades.
Unlike the first method, these upgrades are permanent, and you hopefully won’t need to bring Nell along with you anymore if you do this.
And that is everything that you need to know in order to increase your backpack capacity in the game, both permanently and temporarily. While you’re here, check out our guide on how to recruit Isha in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes as well!
