Farming is hard work. After a whole day of watering or harvesting crops, feeding your animals, fishing, foraging and giving random junk to the town’s people, nothing beats going home. Unless your home’s Interior Design hasn’t been changed since your basic starting furniture – then it’s better to sleep in your barn.

Complete Interior Design Guide For Stardew Valley

Let’s face it, after gaining millions of gold in farming ancient fruit you probably are wondering where to use all that gold. The best way to use those millions is to make your house look nice, just to flex on the other people living in Stardew Valley. Well, in this Complete Interior Design Guide, here are some tips and tricks for making that goal a reality.

Essentials

First, you need two things. Go to Pierre and buy yourself a Catalogue. Then go to Robin and buy a Furniture Catalogue.

Place them somewhere on your farm, preferably inside your house so you can begin the process. The Catalogue gives you access to ALL the wallpaper and flooring in the game while the Furniture Catalogue gives you access to most of the furniture in the game minus the unique ones. Did I mention they give you these things for FREE?

Renovation And Extra Rooms

You should also get around to unlocking all the rooms. Just pay Robin to upgrade your house till you can’t anymore. Then she’ll give you the choice to make House Renovations. This can range from removing the wall between the bedroom and the living room, to adding a corner room or a southern room. These renovations are instant and free, so why not get them?

Planning Layouts And Themes

You should have an idea of what types of rooms you want. Do you want your bedroom to be on the Southern side? Do you want your living room to be twice as big? Who needs a Children’s room? What should you do with the corner room? These are all valid questions, and should be answered in the planning phase. As you can also see, some of my rooms have a classic Japanese style to them, and themes like that can help you design your house.

Form or Function

Look at the image above. I’ve made it so that the kitchen looks like it has a wooden area in the middle of it. It did this using Wood Floors, I bet you didn’t know you could place floors inside your house. I’ve also made the tables look like those Japanese low tables or “Chabudai” as they call it. With cushions around them as seats, the thing is they’re not cushions nor seats. Those are actually Log Sections that can be bought at Robin’s store, you can’t actually sit on them, they do look nice though. You can use this trick with a lot of other items.

General Tips

Bookcases are a great way to divide the room or fill up empty spaces. They’re quite big and make for good hiding spots when you’re doing hide and seek with your friends.

Sadly, you can’t remove the cupboards and counters in the kitchen, so usually, players just keep the kitchen in that room. You can however place a lot of fridges there if you like keeping your food close by.

End tables like the modern end tables can be the perfect pedestal for important items so that you can put them on display. Gifts from your beloved or your first prismatic shard should be remembered.

You can actually place farm items like chests, furnaces or even kegs in your house. Use this to your advantage if you want to design a room to brew wine or a storage room.
