Surviving the post-apocalyptic land of Once Human can be a difficult task, as there are so many dangers that can kill you. It is why the game puts such a strong emphasis on crafting so that you can increase your chances of survival. Pretty early on, you’ll also need to boil some water as well.

How To Boil Water

Boiling water in Once Human is related to the crafting system of the game. Here is a quick breakdown of all the steps you need to follow to boil water in Once Human:

  1. Collect Dirty Water when near a water source
  2. Unlock the Stove from the Memetics tech tree
  3. Build a Stove with the necessary resources
  4. Craft Boiling Water using the recipe in the Stove menu.

Collect Dirty Water

Starting off, you’ll need to collect some Dirty Water in Once Human. You’ll be converting this Dirty Water into Boiled Water so that you can use it to quench your thirst in the game. Thus, you’ll be able to increase your chances of survival.

To gather Dirty Water, all you need to do is approach a water source like a lake. You’ll see the prompt to Collect Dirty Water when you’re in such a water source. Simply press G to collect as much Dirty Water as you can. You’ll be able to gather quite a bit in this way.

Unlock Stove

Now that you have the Dirty Water, it is time to unlock the tool that will help you boil it. This is a Stove. You can unlock the Stove in Once Human from the Memetics tech tree.

If you do not know how to do this, we’ve got you covered. Start by pressing the I button so that you can go into your menu. Here, select the Memetics Cradle tab at the top. After that, select the Memetics option on the left side of the menu.

In the Memetics menu, click on the tab that says Logistics at the top. In this tab, you’ll be able to see the Stove option right at the start. Unlock it and you’ll now be able to build a stove.

Build Stove

After you’ve unlocked the Stove in Once Human, it is time to build it. Press the B button to bring up your build menu. Over here, you want to select the Facilities tab at the top.

In the Facilities tab, select the Production Processing sub tab. Here, you’ll see a bunch of builds that you can craft. You’ll be able to find the Stove here in the first line.

You’ll also need to ensure you have the right resources to build it as well. Here are the resources you’ll need to build the Stove in Once Human:

  • x25 Copper Ore
  • x20 Gravel
  • x30 Charcoal
  • x10 Metal Scraps

If you have these resources, simply build it wherever seems convenient to you.

Craft Boiled Water

Once the Stove is built, interact with it. In the Stove menu, you’ll see all sorts of recipes that you can craft or cook up. You’ll be able to find the recipe for the Boiled Water as the first one in the list. To make one batch of Boiled Water in Once Human, here are the ingredients that you’ll need:

  • x3 Dirty Water
  • x3 Logs

Since you already collected plenty of Dirty Water, you’ll be able to make a lot of boiled water. Now, you can drink this boiled water whenever your thirst is low.
