Black Myth Wukong provides players the opportunity to unlock some amazing weapons. To unlock some of these weapons, you’ll need to do some secret tasks or quests that are not immediately apparent. One such quest is the prisoner quest located in Pagoda Realm.

Having trouble with parts of this quest, such as locating the captains? In this guide, we’ll show you exactly how you can complete this quest. This will allow you to get the Chu Bai Spear in the game. Let’s dive in!

How to Get Chu-Bai Spear

To do the Prisoner quest, you will need to have progressed to the Pagoda Realm. This area is located in Chapter 3 of Black Myth Wukong.

Don’t worry, if you’ve already progressed ahead in the story. You can still return and complete the quest to get the weapon.

To get the Chu Bai Spear, you’ll need to do the following steps:

  • Go to the Upper Pagoda shrine
  • Defeat the Captain Lotus Vision boss
  • Talk to the Prisoner in Lower Pagoda
  • Progress ahead and defeat Captain Wise Voice
  • Go to the Longevity Road shrine in Valley of Ecstasy
  • Collect the spirit from Captain Void Illusion
  • Defeat Captain Kalpa Wave
  • Return to the Prisoner.

Defeat Captain Lotus Vision

The first thing you need to do for the prisoner quest is to defeat the first captain in the Pagoda Realm. Progress through the area until you reach the Upper Pagoda shrine in Black Myth Wukong.

If you have this shrine unlocked already, you can just fast travel here directly.

After that, drop down the gap that you see behind the shrine. This will start the first of the boss battles that you’ll be doing for this quest.

You’ll need to defeat Captain Lotus Vision, who is a very tricky boss. This is because he fires a lot of projectiles that players find very frustrating.

Make sure to grab the boss’s spirit once you have defeated him.

Defeating the boss will also open the purple circle doors, which will allow us to start the prisoner quest. You might also want to check out our how to open purple prison cells guide for some additional details.

Talk To Prisoner

After you defeat the boss, return to the Lower Pagoda shrine in Black Myth Wukong.

You’ll notice that all the prison cells that were locked with the purple circle can now be opened. For the prisoner quest, however, you want to go to the prison cell that is towards the furthest end of Lower Pagoda.

Specifically, it is the prison cell with a body next to it, as shown below.

Open the cell and go inside. Here, you’ll be able to talk to the prisoner NPC. He’ll tell you that you need to get the spirits of four captains. You’ve already gotten one, so you have three to go.

Defeat Captain Wise Voice

After talking to the prisoner, return to the Lower Pagoda shrine. Now your goal is to go further up the Pagoda Realm until you reach the very top. This is where the next captain boss is located.

You’ll find the Mani Wheel shrine next to his arena. So, if you already have it unlocked, we suggest you just fast travel there.

From here, enter the boss arena and begin the fight with Captain Wise Voice. This boss is also incredibly difficult so be prepared for a tough boss fight.

After he’s defeated, make sure to get his spirit as well.

Collect Spirits Of Captain Void Illusion

Next up, you’ll be heading to the Longevity Road shrine in Black Myth Wukong. You can find this shrine in the Valley of Ecstasy area. So, if you don’t have it yet, just keep progressing through the story.

While facing this Shrine, go towards the right side. Keep heading straight here and eventually you’ll come upon the body of a dead captain in the snow. No boss fight here!

Approach the dead captain’s hands and you should be able to take the spirit from it. We recommend killing the nearby enemies though as they can get you by surprise when you’re in the animation.

Defeat Captain Kalpa Wave

After you get the captain’s spirit, return to the Longevity Road shrine. This time you want to go straight ahead while facing the shrine.

Just make your way ahead until eventually you arrive at a bridge. You’ll know you’re close to the boss fight when you see a strange red glow in the distance. This is the Captain Kalpa Wave arena.

Approach the glow to battle the final captain for the prisoner quest. This boss will be the toughest of the lot so be prepared.

Once you defeat the boss, be sure to take the boss’s spirit when you’re done. Luckily, there are no more boss fights you’ll need to do for the Chu Bai Spear!

Return To Prisoner

After you defeat the final captain, return to the Lower Pagoda shrine where the Prisoner is. Talking to him will start a cutscene where he gives you the Chu Bai spearhead material.

Now, you’ll be able to craft this weapon and equip it in your inventory. It’s an epic weapon, so you will definitely want to try it out!

That’s everything you need to know about completing the prisoner quest in Black Myth Wukong. If you’re still not unable to get the spear, it’s possible you may not have gotten the boss spirits. So, be sure to retrieve them to complete the quest.
