From all the Risk of Rain 2 Seekers of the Storm teasers we’ve seen related to this new survivor, it’s exciting news to learn that you can finally acquire the chef as a playable character and master his culinary techniques.
Keep reading this guide to learn what you need to do to unlock The Chef and use him to annihilate your enemies.
How to Unlock Chef from Seekers of the Storm DLC
While it is tradition to defeat a boss in battle in order to unlock them as a playable character, the chef simply asks that you find him some ingredients. Once you find these ingredients, you’ll need to take them to him in a small cave located at the new Reformed Altar Stage.
Here’s a detailed walkthrough on how to unlock The Chef.
Unlocking the Chef
The Chef, as it is his duty to cook, will first need some help in searching for some ingredients before he agrees to join your team in exploring the chaotic planet.
In the new Reformed Altar Stage, you’ll need to place three ingredients in the wok next to him. The required items are:
- Bison Steak
- Cautious Slug
- Infusion
Try looking for these items in the first or second stages. Furthermore, it’s not important to collect these items in a single run because after you place an item or two into the wok, the progression does not reset.
To get to the Chef in Reformed Altar, look for the Halcyon Shrine. The shrine is a large green crystal that has smaller green crystals protruding from the ground. You’ll definitely find one of these in the first stage.
Pray to the shrine and it will charge up using your gold. You’ll need around 200 gold in order for it to activate.
As it’s charging up, it’ll summon enemies around you so stay on your toes. Once it’s done charging up, it’ll spawn the Halcyonite boss.
Defeating this boss will trigger a Green Portal to appear. Take the portal to head to the Reformed Altar.
You should find the Chef in this stage of the DLC. For his exact location, head in the direction of the throne room area and turn left.
When you turn left, you should see a small opening. The opening to the cave should lead you to the Chef.
When you go to the other end of the cave, you should find the chef on the other side of the counter and a wok in front of him with images of three items. We’ve already named the items, so if you’ve found them, you can place them in the wok.
If you still require an ingredient or two, place as many as you’ve found, go back searching for the rest, and come back when you’ve found all the ingredients.
Placing all three items will unlock this survivor for you! There’s no combat or skill required, you get the Chef automatically after helping him cook the delicious meal he’s been planning!
