Getting a little chilly in here, huh?

WoW Season 4 Frost DK Guide Talents, Gears, Rotation, Affix & More

With the release of Season 4, there also comes some changes that have been made within the game. Whether it’s gear, talents, or just the bug fixes, it’s pretty normal to experience a difference when playing a newly patched game. In this guide, we will be talking about the Frost Death Knight, and whether or not this class has been buffed or nerfed. We’ll talk about talents, gears, how effective the skill rotation is, and many more. If you’re a Frost Death Knight main, then a quick little read shouldn’t hear to know more about what happened.

Season 4 Frost Death Knight Guide – WoW

With the changes in Season 4, Frost Death Knight mains will find themselves glad that not a lot has changed in terms of talents. But you’ll notice that Runic Attenuation isn’t as popular as it used to be, and people have been using Murderous Efficiency instead.

For the Covenants, there are only two good Covenants for Frost Death Knight: Night Fae and Necrolord. Night Fae is said to be better in all fights in general, but that depends on what you want for your build. If you plan on running Night Fae, use Dreamweaver for single targets. Follow the picture associated with the covenant to get a look at the optimal way of specializing Dreamweaver.

Korayn for AoE damage.

For Necrolord, use Plague Deviser Marileth for single targets.

Bonesmith Heirmir for AoE damage.

While Night Fae is the best for damaging in general, the Necrolord Covenant is great for raid. Oftentimes, you can switch Night Fae for Necrolord whenever you feel like it, as it is mostly a preference choice here.

For Legendaries, the changes here aren’t a lot. You will still want to use Biting Cold and Rage of the Frozen Champion. Tactics remain the same here, so you can still use these two effectively.

Now with gear, here is where the changes are very prominent. There are a lot of nerfs and buffs that were thrown around here, so you have to know which ones are no longer good, and which ones are the best.

Before Season 4, Frost Death Knights would usually have Inscrutable Quantum Device as their trinkets, but not anymore. It has suffered a huge nerf, to the point that Frost Death Knight players are ditching the trinket. Now, the best trinket to use is Old Warrior’s Soul.

While the Old Warrior’s Soul trinket also suffered a nerf, it still very good to use, and even better than Inscrutable Quantum Device. However, if you don’t have Old Warrior’s Soul, then don’t worry, because there’s another trinket you can use.

The Eye of Command is Frost Death Knight’s second best trinket to use. You can acquire this by defeating the final boss in Return to Karazhan. Using this trinket increases the chances of your auto-attacks getting crits, so it’s a pretty good trinket to have.

With the passive trinkets out of the way, let’s move on to the best active trinkets you can use. These are trinkets that have to be manually activated in order to get the effects. First one is Scars of Fraternal Strife, you can get this from the Jailer in Sepulcher of the First Ones.

Next is the Enforcer’s Stun Grenade from the Grimrail Enforcers. Like its name says, using this will stun your enemies when activated. However, it has a long cooldown of 2 minutes, so use it sparingly.

With the trinkets done, let’s talk about the rings you need to make your Frost Death Knight powerful. There are two rings you can get from Operation: Mechagon that will help you. First is Logic Loop of Division, which you can get from HK-8 Aerial Oppression Unit, and the second one is Overclocking Bit Band, which you can get from Machinist’s Garden.

Moving on to the affixes, which is fairly simple. Haste is your friend as a Frost Death Knight. This will help you get more Killing Machines due to your incredibly fast attack speed. Not to mention that most of Frost Death Knight’s skill are affected by haste. There’s also the faster rune regeneration.
