Despite all the unusual and disruptive technical issues of Risk of Rain 2: Seekers of the Storm, the actual content of the DLC is pretty dang good. Among the additions is the Seeker survivor, and in this guide, we will be giving you a brief overview of how to use her!
Seeker Complete Guide
The Seeker is a character with its own unique passive known as Inner Strength, in which she can stack up a resource called Tranquility. This grants +1% of all stats for every stack, but there is more to this that we’ll get to later. Here are the rest of her abilities:
- Spirit Punch (Primary) – The Seeker will throw out piercing projectiles that deal 200% damage to all targets hit. On the third attack, the projectile will now be an explosive that deals more damage but does not pierce.
- Unseen Hand (Secondary) – Launch a giant spirit fist from the ground, dealing 600% damage to everything it passes through. This ability stuns on hit.
- The hand will fly straight up at a seemingly infinite range.
- You will also be healed for each target hit, though there seems to be a cap on how many it can affect right now (possible bug).
- Soul Spiral (Alt Secondary) – Creates an orb that will orbit around the Seeker. You can only have a limited amount of these around you.
- On hit, you will gain barrier. The downside is that these orbs orbit very close to you, forcing you to essentially bump into enemies.
- If you don’t have this unlocked yet, check out this guide on how to unlock Soul Spiral.
- Sojourn (Utility) – Transform into a flying ball of flame that will deal damage and stunon impact. After a few seconds of channeling the ability, you will start taking damage.
- You cannot take damage while you are channeling this ability.
- Despite the downside of taking damage, the explosion will become more powerful for each second channeled while you are taking damage.
- Meditate (Special) – When cast, you will have to press your movement keys according to the arrows on screen before time runs out. If successful, you will heal all nearby allies and also deal damage to surrounding enemies.
- Whenever you press an incorrect key, a large chunk of the timer for the ability will be depleted.
- Each successful cast will grant you a stack of Tranquility. On the seventh stack, you will get the Saving Grace ability that can heal you whenever you reach low health.
- There is also a revive component on the seventh Tranquility stack, though it is pretty buggy right now and useless in solo.
How Should You Play Her?
Personally, I like to play Seeker with a silly Soul Spiral–focused build where you want to be taking a lot of healing items and attack speed. Basically, just run up to enemies and throw Spirit Punches at them while spamming Soul Spiral.
On that note, the following items are some of the most ideal for something like that:
- Anything that reduces damage taken – These items include Tougher Times, Repulsion Armor Plate, and Rose Buckler. Sojourn becomes a lot safer with it too. Honestly, these are just good to have period.
- Healing stuff – Aside from just general survivability, we want to be able to offset the damage dealt by Sojourn with a lot of healing. As such, stuff like the Rejuvenation Rack, Planula, and even Weeping Fungus (if you manage to get one) are great.
- Focus Crystal – Needless to say, we’re going to be getting a lot of use out of these because Seeker is most effective at a relatively close range.
- Sale Star – This item was added as a part of the DLC, and it is essentially just free loot. Always great to have no matter what character you’re playing.
- Seed of Life – This new equipment will revive you if you die. Since this is a pretty risky playstyle, we want that second chance just in case.
If you prefer to keep your distance from enemies, then use the default secondary Unseen Hand instead. Both options are completely up to personal preference, as with everything in the game, so just test things out to see what you’re comfortable with.
Other than that, just spam Meditate until you have Saving Grace active. Right off the escape pod, you will want to use it immediately just to start stacking up Tranquility.
Don’t be afraid to take chunks of damage too, as Seeker can heal up rather quickly. Even early on, as long as you have Meditate available whenever you need to heal, you are pretty much unkillable in the first couple of stages.
That’s pretty much everything you need to know, since there really isn’t too much to keep in mind with how random the game can be without modifiers. Now get out there and try out the Seeker, as she might just become your new favorite survivor!
