Understanding Skills

Equipping skills is fairly simple, but it requires meeting certain requirements:

  1. Meet Stat Requirements: Each skill has specific stat requirements. For example, if you want to equip a skill that requires three Focus, you must have that amount in your build.
  2. Equip Skills:
    • Navigate to the skills section.
    • Select the skill you want to equip and press the “Equip” button.
    • Your equipped skills will then appear in your hotbar.
  3. Cost of Skills: Keep in mind that skills cost resources to equip, and the cost increases with each skill you purchase.

1. Contender

  • Function: A powerful skill that allows you to break through defenders.
  • How to Use: Instead of shooting, you can R-pass to bypass them.
  • Best Use: It’s particularly effective for shooting past goalkeepers since only they can catch your shot. Aim to use Contender near the box for optimal results.
  • Requirements: 11 Power.

2. Mock Cut-In

  • Function: A quick maneuver to create space.
  • How to Use: If a defender is pressuring you, use Mock Cut-In to dash past them.
  • Requirements: 9 Speed, 3 Control. While it’s not too costly, you’ll need decent speed to maximize its effectiveness.

3. Nutmeg

  • Function: A sneaky pass that allows you to bypass defenders.
  • How to Use: Use Nutmeg when a defender is close to you or even on teammates to regain stamina.
  • Important Note: You cannot use Nutmeg immediately after a dribble; there’s a cooldown.

4. Air Trap

  • Function: Used to control and redirect the ball.
  • How to Use: You can use it in conjunction with a curve shot to increase your chances of scoring. It’s also effective for intercepting high balls.
  • Common Strategy: Use it to block opponents’ shots or passes.

5. Foul Play

  • Function: A unique skill that allows you to physically stop opponents.
  • How to Use: It stuns the opponent, making them disoriented. However, be careful, as you’ll be stationary during the attack.
  • Caution: Using Foul Play leaves you vulnerable to losing the ball.

6. Quick Sweep

  • Function: An intercepting skill for stealing passes.
  • How to Use: Position yourself to sweep in and take the ball away during an opponent’s pass.
  • Strategy: Combine it with shift-lock for better angle control.

7. Intercept

  • Function: A defensive skill to retrieve the ball when passed.
  • How to Use: Activate this skill when the ball is passed near you to instantly gain possession.
  • Advantage: It provides eye frames, making you invulnerable during execution.

8. Dehumanize

  • Function: A skill that takes an opponent’s flow.
  • How to Use: Initiate it while the opponent is pursuing the ball. It can be combined with other skills for a tactical advantage.
  • Effect: Stuns the opponent and grants you their flow, allowing for follow-up plays.

9. Bench Impact

  • How to Use: Timing is critical for this move; you need to aim precisely when executing.

These skills are essential tools in your gameplay arsenal, allowing you to maneuver, defend, and attack effectively. Practice using them in various scenarios to see what works best for you. Remember, the right combination of skills can give you a significant edge in matches. Have fun experimenting and mastering your skills!

How To Play Vision

Next, I’ll show you how to actually play the game, as a lot of you seem confused. Let’s jump into the field!

Basic Controls

  • Passing: Use the R key for a standard pass, T for a lob pass.
  • Dribbling:
    • Z: Dribble left
    • X: Dribble back
    • C: Dribble forward
    • V: Dribble right

Shooting Mechanics

  • Positioning is key. Aim for the corners to make it difficult for the goalkeeper (GK).
  • Use the arc shot technique to enhance scoring chances.
  • If you’re in a shift lock, it may become predictable for defenders.
  • When shooting, draw the GK toward you to open up space for a shot.
  • Also, practice arching your shots to make it more challenging for the GK.

Team Coordination

  • Use callouts effectively to communicate with teammates. For example, pressing F will call for the ball, visible only to teammates with the appropriate trait.
  • Consider team compositions when choosing roles; some traits like “Hungry” or “Bull” are particularly strong for defenders.

In the next section, I’ll discuss standing tackles and defensive strategies to help improve your gameplay.

Standing Tackle Basics

  • Speed Requirement: You need at least 11 speed to effectively perform standing tackles.
  • Demonstration: Sofa will show you how to execute a standing tackle. I’ll explain the mechanics.

What is a Standing Tackle?

A standing tackle involves approaching an opponent, holding your charge bar, and positioning yourself to block or intercept the ball. It’s effective even if you don’t have possession.

  1. Defensive Hitbox: Players with higher defense have a larger hitbox, making it easier to intercept passes or shots.
  2. Positioning: When shooting towards the goal, aim for corners to avoid being easily blocked by defenders.
  3. Intercepting the Ball: If the ball is in the box, a defender can execute a standing tackle to clear it.

Practical Example: A player will stand in front of me as I attempt to pass the ball. If I miss, they can tackle it. This demonstrates the effectiveness of standing tackles in a match.

Dribbling and Lob Techniques

Dribbling Mechanics:

  • Lob Dribbling: A common tactic is to lob the ball over opponents. This can confuse defenders.
  • Passing: Quick passes help maintain control. Use a combination of passing and dribbling to keep opponents guessing.

Magging:

  • Definition: Magging occurs when a player shoots directly in front of a defender, and the defender intercepts the shot. Sofa will show this.
  • Lob Pass: You can lob the ball into the air and intercept it. Sofa will demonstrate this technique.

Jump Tackles:

  • Jump tackles allow you to cover more ground. When executing, sprint and jump to hit the opponent, making it harder for them to evade you.

Using Skills in Defense

Skills to Utilize:

  • Nutmeg: Slip the ball between an opponent’s legs for a quick escape.
  • Foul Play: This skill can stun opponents, giving you an advantage.
  • Air Trap: Use this technique to control the ball mid-air.

Combining Skills with Lobbing:

  • You can lob the ball and instantly use skills like the nutmeg or air trap for surprising plays.

Passing Mechanics

  • When passing, make sure your power is appropriate. The more control and power you have, the better your passes and curve shots will be.
  • Curve Shots: These can be used for both scoring and passing. They add unpredictability to your gameplay.

Goalkeeping Techniques

Basic Controls:

  • Diving: Use Z for a left dive, C for a right dive, and Q for a high dive.
  • React Quickly: Follow the striker’s movements and react swiftly to their shots. Don’t hesitate!

Important Tips:

  • Avoid Diving into the Goal: Be cautious not to dive too close to the goal line, as it can lead to goals.
  • Catching Contender Shots: You can catch shots like “Contender,” but positioning is crucial.

Gameplay Strategy:

  • As a goalkeeper, you must maintain focus. If you dive incorrectly or lose the ball, it could result in a goal for the opposing team.

Understanding standing tackles, dribbling mechanics, and effective goalkeeping are all essential for improving your performance in the game. Practice these techniques, and you’ll become a threatening player on the field.
