Delta Force has a new time-limited Open Beta, so we figured we should help out any potential newcomers with an ultimate beginner’s guide.
After all, the Open Beta is set to last just about a week! It’s important to save as much time as possible learning about the game so that you can maximize your time actually playing the game.
So, without further ado, read on and we’ll give you a breakdown of the most important things a beginner should know when diving into Delta Force!
Ultimate Beginner’s Guide | Delta Force Open Beta
How to Get Into the Open Beta
No better way to kickstart our ultimate beginner’s guide than by telling you how to get into the Open Beta for Delta Force to begin with, right? Thankfully, the process is surprisingly simple. You just have to click this link to go to the game’s official Steam page. Then, look for the “Delta Force Demo” and click on download.
Of course, you do need a Steam account and the Steam client installed on your PC for this. However, you don’t need to be invited or to make any other accounts to play the game. It’s as simple as just downloading it through Steam!
Sadly, though, there’s no demo version for other platforms as of this writing. It’s PC exclusive.
This demo, or open beta, will be available until October 21st, 2024 at 10:00 AM (Pacific Time). So, if you want to see what the fuss is all about, you should get in ASAP.
Game Mode Basics
There are 3 modes in Delta Force, although only 2 of them are available during the Open Beta. They are as follows:
- Tactical Turmoil – To clear up any confusion, this mode seems to also be called “Hazard Operations” outside the game. It’s a large-scale PvP extraction shooter mode where you will have to compete against other players to find loot and try to exfiltrate in one piece.
- Havoc Warfare – A more standard small-scale PvP mode where you team up with other players to fight against hostile player squads. Complete your objective using any means necessary while crushing the opposition to win!
- Campaign – This is the only mode that’s unavailable during the Open Beta, so we sadly can’t get our hands on it just yet. However, we do know that this is set to be a remake of the campaign for the classic FPS Delta Force: Black Hawk Down.
Pick whichever multiplayer mode you prefer to get right into the battlefield!
Meet the Operators
There are 7 different playable Operators in the Delta Force Open Beta, and no ultimate beginner’s guide would be complete without giving you a quick overview of what they all do! So, here’s a breakdown of what playstyle each Operator enables.
Assault Operators
D-Wolf – Our first Assault Operator, he wears an exoskeleton that gives him better mobility than his peers. He has the unique ability to slide and has a faster aiming speed than other Operators as well. For Gadgets, he has a fast Tactical Smoke Grenade and a Triple Blaster that fires grenades.
Vyron – Another Assault Operator, he has equipment that allows him to minimize fall damage. Additionally, he gets a boost of speed whenever he uses any Tactical Gear or Gadgets, making him perfect for surprise attacks.
Support Operators
Stinger – The only Support Operator currently in the game, he can revive teammates much faster than others. He also gets healing tools, such as the Hive-Tech Pistol for long-range heals and the Hive-Tech Smoke Grenade which creates healing smoke. He can also heal allies that don’t belong to your Squad, which are marked as green instead of the usual blue.
Engineer Operators
Shepherd – Our first Engineer Operator, which means he’s capable of repairing vehicles, creating defenses, and laying down traps. His Sonic Defense Trait reduces damage from explosives, while his Sonic Paralysis Tactical Gear lets him paralyze nearby enemies.
Uluru – This Engineer Operator is the “tank” of the group, meaning he can take more damage than others. He can place down cover to protect himself and his allies, plus he can use Loitering Munitions to suppress foes.
Recon Operators
Luna – Exactly what you expect from a Recon Operator, Luna is all about revealing her foe’s positions. This is mostly thanks to her Detection Arrow. Also, any enemies she damages will be marked on the map for longer than usual. Can also deal damage to an area with her Volt Arrow.
Hackclaw – Classified as a Recon Operator, she moves faster than others while crouching and also makes less noise. She can blind enemies with her Flash Drone and her Signal Decoder passively reveals the nearest enemy signal at all times.
Now, admittedly, this is all a very basic and quick summary of what each Operator has to offer. Truth be told, learning their pros and cons is something you’ll have to do by trying them out. Nonetheless, we hope this helped you decide which ones you actually want to put time into!
Complete Quests and Claim Rewards
You will passively complete Quests for rewards as you play any of the game modes in Delta Force. To check out which Quests you have available or completed, press F6 in the main menu or click on the Event button in the bottom left of the screen.
This will let you see the Quests for every mode, as well as any Daily Quests you have. Just click on whichever category you want to check and remember to claim the rewards from any completed Quests!
On that note, make sure to check the Ranked tab in the main menu as well. It’ll also give you rewards as you naturally improve your Rank by completing matches.
Spend Your Score in Havoc Warfare
You’ll earn Score as you do pretty much anything in the Havoc Warfare game mode. Be it killing enemies, assisting allies, or playing the objective. Just help out your team and you’ll start amassing lots and lots of Score!
You can then press the 5 key to bring up the Reinforcements Wheel. This will let you spend your hard-earned score to call in various types of support, such as an Artillery Salvo or a Vehicle Drop. The more powerful the reinforcement, the higher the cost, as you might imagine.
Remember to spend your Score and make good use of these reinforcements to turn the tide of battle in your team’s favor!
Mark Enemies
This is a pretty quick tip but you can mark enemies for your team by simply pointing at them and clicking the Middle Mouse button. This will ping the enemy, marking them on the map and notifying any nearby allies of the enemy’s presence.
You can even do this while you’re downed, letting you warn allies of any nearby threats. Make sure to warn them so they don’t get surprised on their way to revive you!
Make good use of this ping system so that your team can keep track of every enemy’s location more easily.
Hold Your Breath
Another quick tip we have for you is that you can hold your breath with every weapon in the game. All you have to do is press the Shift key while aiming down sights. It will greatly reduce sway while aiming, and it’s absolutely crucial to make accurate shots!
But well, that last quick tip brings us to the end of your ultimate beginner’s guide for the Delta Force Open Beta! We hope this helps you get started, soldier.
