Whether you’re tired of mixing TMR by hand or just want to streamline your farm in Farming Simulator 25, the Autofeed Cow barn is here to save the day. Don’t worry if you’re new to the game—I’ve got you covered with all the steps you need to set it up and keep your cows fed and happy with zero hassle!
How To Use Autofeed Cow Barn
Using the Auto-Feeding Cow Barn in Farming Simulator 25 is a simple way to take your farming game to the next level. After placing the barn, you’ll be able to add your cows or water buffalo just like any other animal pen. Once your livestock is in, the barn’s auto-feeding system takes over, saving you the time and effort of mixing TMR manually.
The barn’s robot handles the mixing and distribution process, so you can focus on other parts of your farm while your cows are kept well-fed and happy. Whether you’re milking cows or collecting manure, this system makes life a whole lot easier!
Placement of Your Autofeed Cow Barn
To get your Auto-Feeding Cow Barn set up, head to the Animal Pens section in the store. Just a quick heads-up though, I won’t be going over how to mix TMR (Total Mixed Ration) in this guide—that’s a whole separate topic!
If you’re interested, check out my guide on how to make TMR in FS25! But here’s the good part: the main benefit of the Auto-Feeding Cow Barn is that you don’t have to mix the TMR yourself, which saves you a lot of time and effort.
Now, a barn can be pretty large—holding up to 93 cows—but here’s something that can be easily overlooked: some barns don’t come with a mineral feed intake, which is crucial for it to run smoothly. If you miss that, your barn won’t work as expected, so keep that in mind when placing it!
How Does Autofeed Cow Barn Work?
Adding animals to your barn is just like any other pasture: you can either purchase them directly from the store or use an animal trailer for delivery. If you’re raising milk cows, you can collect the milk right here at the designated milk symbol on the barn. Oh, and if you’re running water buffalo, no worries! The Autofeed Cow barn works for them too!
You can add straw bedding to the barn if you wish, but it’s important to note that straw is only necessary if you want manure. If manure is your goal, make sure you place a silo extension nearby for collection. You can also add your own feed to the barn, but again, the star feature here is the auto-feeding function that will make your life a whole lot easier.
How To Get Feed & the Feeding Process
The Auto-Feeding Cow Barn accepts hay, straw, silage, and mineral feed. These can be brought in as bales or loose products. If you don’t have these materials yet, no worries! Head over to the Animals section of the store, and you’ll find hay bales, silage bales, and straw bales for purchase. Mineral feed is located under the Food section of the store.
For mineral feed, you can either buy it from the store directly or store it in a Karma 16 container. Once you’ve got your mineral feed stored, you can load it into any bulk trailer and deliver it to your barn. It’s that simple!
Once the feed is in place, the barn’s robot takes care of everything for you! It will automatically mix and distribute the feed to your cows. The robot’s mixing ratio for TMR is as follows: 4.8% mineral feed, 20.4% straw, and 37.4% hay and silage. So, for every 1,000 liters of TMR, you’ll get about 48 liters of mineral feed, 200 liters of straw, and 374 liters of hay/silage. It’s a pretty efficient system that keeps your cows well-fed and happy!
One important thing to note: the Autofeed Cow barn does not require water. Unlike the pastures, which need water delivered separately, the Auto-Feeding Cow Barn assumes that water is already connected. It’s a small convenience, but it does make life a bit easier, even though it’s not entirely realistic.
