With the latest and juicy update to Cyberpunk 2077, a ton of new stuff was added specifically to improve the overall roleplaying experience of the game. A bunch of secrets were added all around the map too, and it includes this little easter egg that is very clearly a reference to Back to the Future. In this guide, we will show you how to (potentially) trigger it and where it occurs!

Update 2.2 Secret Event in Northside | Easter Egg Location

First up, you should head over to the NID: Docks fast travel point at the Northside Industrial District. From here, you really just need to walk alongside the edges of the port near the fast travel point, beside where a cargo ship is docked.

This secret occurs at night time, though there is no exact schedule for it. It can happen as early as 9 in the evening or as late as past midnight. We believe it might trigger as long as it is already dark out.

You should hear some cars revving up in the distance if the easter egg is happening. As you walk alongside docks, you should eventually see a crowd of people with some cars parked and red flares nearby.

As you approach them, you will notice that two drivers are about to “play chicken”, which is when they both try to drive into one another in hopes that the other will swerve before they crash. Stand around for a bit and the “race” will eventually begin.

Within seconds, one of the cars will swerve into the water. The crowd will quickly disperse, and the other car will drive off into the distance. That is not the end of the easter egg, however.

If you use your scanner on the water, you should be able to spot where the other car crashed below. Swim towards it and you will find a box with some particularly useless junk.

Beside this loot crate is a note that you can read. In it, you will find a conversation between two individuals named Needles and Jennifer, as well as a passing remark about someone named Marty. In case you were not aware, these are names of characters from the Back to the Future franchise. It is no DeLorean, but the reference is still pretty neat!

And that is everything you need to know in order to find this newly added secret to the game. There are many more sprinkled throughout Night City with this latest update, so keep an eye out for any oddities while you explore the game!
