Avowed is just around the corner and players are excited to check out the amazing combat possibilities the game has to offer. From what we’ve seen, the game provides players a lot of freedom when it comes to making builds.
In Avowed, attributes, abilities and backgrounds play an essential role in how your build works. If you’re confused how these work, we’ve got you covered so you do not get blindsided when making your build. With that said, let’s get into it!
How Attributes, Abilities & Backgrounds Work
If you’re worried about having to invest completely into a build with no back, the game offers a Respec system. So, you can completely Respec your attributes and abilities and make your build from scratch.
With that said, let’s see how attributes, abilities and backgrounds will impact your build.
If you’re looking for an overview of the game, check out our everything you need to know guide for Avowed.
Backgrounds
Starting off, we’ll look at what the background of your character does in Avowed. You get to choose your background during character creation. The main purpose of the background is in regards to dialogue – different backgrounds have different dialogue options.
Your starting weapons and equipment is also decided by the background. This isn’t a big issue though as you can always change these as the game progresses.
Your starting preselected Attribute distribution is also dictated by the background you choose. But again, with the ability to Respec, you will always be able to reset this distribution if you are not happy with it later on.
So, if you start off as a Wizard, you can become a Ranger with this system in case you decide to change your mind.
