There are some side quests in Avowed that can give you powerful rewards, and among these is one that starts as soon as you pick up a Fragment of Starmetal. Upon grabbing your first piece, you will unlock the Forged of Star-Stuff side quest, which will have you searching for a smithy as well. In this guide, we will be showing you each of the places where you can get a fragment, as well as the smithy.
All Fragments of Starmetal Locations
If you have already started the Forged of Star-Stuff side quest, we still recommend following along with the order presented in this guide. We will start with the very first map where you can get one of the fragments and work our way up to the last one.
Fragment of Starmetal #1 – Dawnshore
In the region of Dawnshore, head over to the Godless Altar at the Southern Embrace area. This first piece is fairly straightforward. If you have not been here before, check the map image below. There may be a bunch of enemies nearby, but once they are all dead, the Fragment of Starmetal will be right there.

Fragment of Starmetal #2 – Emerald Stair
Next up is the Emerald Stair map. There, directly to the south of the Rolling Crags Party Camp, you will find the Damp Burrow. The cave itself will have a fewspider enemies that you can kill, but more importantly, a Fragment of Starmetal can be found on the ground here.
If you are headed there from the camp, there is a hole nearby that will also lead you down here. If you choose this path, just be careful and try to use the rocks to avoid falling all the way down immediately.

Fragment of Starmetal #3 – Shatterscarp
In the map of Shatterscarp, head over to the Thirdborn Party Camp just north of Thirdborn itself. Follow the cliff wall to the west and you will eventually find a cave leading into the Abandoned Mine. Once in the mine, clear out any enemies and then make your way up top.
One way up is through the western part of the Abandoned Mine. You might need to break some planks blocking your way, but the way to parkour to the top is fairly straightforward. Eventually, you will find a tree with a Fragment of Starmetal right under it.

Starmetal Fragment #4 – Galawain’s Tusks
Finally, at the Galawain’s Tusks region, you can find the last bit of metal at the Ash Forest zone. All you need to do is go to the marked spot in the map image below. There, you will find the Fragment of Starmetal sitting in a crater.
Be ready for a fight if you pick it up, as it will spawn a revenant shortly afterwards. This is the enemy you will need to defeat for the Bounty: Destul quest, so if you are already doing it, then the game will be leading you straight to the fragment anyway.

Starmetal Smithy Location
Once all of the Fragments of Starmetal have been acquired, you can find the Starmetal Smithy at Solace Keep. This is also in Galawain’s Tusks, and the NPC you are looking for is Forgemaster Dela. You do not actually need to have all of the fragments to get a reward, but having all four will let you get the best stuff immediately.
The rewards for it are a sword and an arquebus, with each costing a single fragment to acquire. With the other two fragments, you can get an upgraded version of both weapons, which are both fantastic.
The only thing to keep in mind here is that these weapons (Ondra’s Offense and Heavenstrike) will have the same quality as the highest ones that you currently own. So, if you want the best possible versions of these weapons, make sure that you have already upgraded stuff all the way to legendary.
If you do this earlier while only having superb quality weaponry, for example, then both of your rewards will have that same tier once given to you. Save yourself the hassle by being patient.

And that is everything you need to know in order to find every bit of Starmetal in the game, as well as who to look for when you are ready to claim your hard-earned rewards for them. Both weapons that you can get from doing this side quest are really powerful, so it is definitely worth doing once you can!
