Crystal of Atlan‘s global launch is releasing soon and the game will arrive with a lot of classes to choose form. As an MMO RPG, choosing the right class for you is crucial so that you can enjoy the game and find the character that resonates with you the most. This choice can be quite confusing for new players who do not have any experience with the game. Not to worry, we have you covered. In this guide, we’ll be briefly going over all the classes so that you know how they work. After that, we will go through recommendations and personal picks to help you decide. With that said, let’s get into it!

Which Class Is Right For You?

There are a total of 16 classes that will be available on launch with the Global release of Crystal of Atlan on May 28. Keep in mind that some classes are actually subclasses of a main base class. You start off with the main class which can then branch off into the subclasses.

We’ll over each of them so you know exactly how they work, and which one suits your style.

You’ll also want to have a good idea of how the game’s mechanics work so you can make the most of your chosen class. In that case, our ultimate beginner’s guide is just what you need!

Swordsman

The Swordsman is the basic warrior archetype that you see in most RPG games. So, if you’re a fan of using swords, this is the play style for you.

It is the base archetype that you’ll use that can eventually evolve into the Magiblade or Berserker!

Magiblade

The Magiblade is a very fast attacking hybrid class. Compared to other classes, his style of attack is very rapid. On top of that, his unique gimmick allows him to build up attack speed stacks whenever he’s using skills.

So, as a Magiblade, your main goal is to keep that buff consistently up so you can use your attacks rapidly and deal high damage.

Like every other class, the Magiblade has cooldowns. But he has a unique mechanic which allows him to reset some of his skills. So, what you need to try to do is manage your individual skills to reset some of your other skills.

In this way, you will be able to prolong your combo and maintain your attack speed.

As a result, the Magiblade class does have a very high skill ceiling because you’ll be managing your skills more compared to other classes.

Berserker

On the other hand, the Berserker is a slower more methodical class. The class is still fast but quite slow compared to the Magiblade we just saw. This class also has a long windups that can do some devastating damage.

The main gimmick with the Berserker is that he has the ability to replace his health with a shield. This is useful because at low health, the Berserker can do a lot more damage. So, your goal with the Berserker is to constantly maintain your attacks and then swap your health with your shield.

When it comes to the Berserker play style, this class has some amazing super armor capabilities. Since this class has long animations, he works well with super armors. This makes this class very desirable for PvP content.

When the Berserker is about to die, he has the ability to stay alive for a little longer and fight for his life. This can be quite useful and annoying for other players when it comes to PvP.

Fighter

The Fighter is one of the newer classes that’s being introduced with the Global release of Crystal of Atlan. It is even quite new for the China servers. As a result, we don’t really have a full idea of how this class works and how it falls in the meta properly yet.

This class is a fairly dexterous base archetype that relies on punching and kicking as opposed to using weapons. As a result, you can expect a more fluid style of combat which flows naturally. If that interests you, you might want to try it out!

Let’s see what subclasses the figher class has.

Cloudstrider

As the name suggests, the Cloudstrider has an aerial synergy style of play. She can use certain abilities that give her a glide state. This allows her to chain attacks and gain certain buffs allowing her to deal out some solid damage.

She also has an aerial energy meter that fills up from doing different movement skills and using abilities. In essence, staying in the air more will allow you to deal more damage.

This can be a bit tricky and will require a certain style of play or skill. So, if you’re up for it, you can do a lot with this class!

Starbreaker

Starbreaker is more of a powerhouse damage dealing burst character compared to the Cloudstrider. She has a slower more methodical style that relies on doing longer singular hits that deal lots of damage.

Her unique gimmick is that she has a power bar that continuously fills up as you use your skills. When one section of the bar is full, you can charge any skill of your choosing to do increase damage.

So, you’ll constantly be generating then spending your power to do raw damage. It is quite a direct play style that may be suitable for players who don’t like managing too many skills.

She also has a parry mechanic, making her one of the only characters that can parry. As a result, you actually have the opportunity to outplay opponents provided you are skilled!

If you like that possibility, she is definitely the pick for you!

Magister

The Magister is a basic mage archetype that uses spells to deal damage. Eventually, this archetype will evolve into one of three classes which we’ll look at next.

Elementalist

The Elementalist class is the safest mage option and one of the safest classes that you can go for in Crystal of Atlan. This is because he has really good range and cast animations. Additionally, he also has solid mobility, really good AoE damage and can cycle multiple elemental skills.

His unique gimmick is that he is one of the few classes that can maintain its cooldowns really well. This is courtesy of the lightning orb system that gives you a chance to reduce your cooldowns by a large amount.

As a result, he is the best caster in the game. He is constantly casting from distance, dealing huge AoE damage.

This makes him one of the most balanced classes in the game that a lot of players will enjoy using.

Warlock

On the other end of the mage spectrum, we have the Warlock. The Warlock is more of a melee mage that relies on being close to mid range in fights. His main gimmick is that he can transform and get additional benefits from the transform state.

Additionally, the Warlock also marks enemies as you continue to use certain skills. After that, you can activate those marks which will deal a massive burst of damage.

So, if you like transformations and strategically doing bombs of damage, this is the class for you!

Magician

The final mage archetype is the Magician and he is fairly unique. He does offer good AoE damage which is similar to the Elementalist. However, this class has a lot more control to offer.

This is because you have the abilities to make enemies sleep, hex them or even control them. On top of that, he is one of the few classes that can actually go invisible.

His unique gimmick is that he has random cards that he can cycle through. These cards will come up on screen randomly and you can play them to use the corresponding skill. When you use the skill, you get a buff that allows you to cycle between three different buffs when the cards come up.

The main issue with this skill is the presence of RNG as you cannot control what cards come up. So, you will need to have skill to be able to use and proc the cards that you are given.

If you can get a hang of utilizing his cards properly, he can be a solid class.

Puppeteer

This base class has two further subclasses. This class allows you to control a puppet that essentially has its own individual functions. How the puppet plays out will depend on which subclass you go for.

Scytheguard

The Scytheguard operates as a defensive support that can also be used to heal. She is not the best when it comes to dealing DPS damage so you will need to do your best to balance that weakness out. However, she is no weakling and can be used to deal solid close range damage.

This class is considered one of the best classes for both PvP and PvE. So, if you’re someone who prefers a support style of play, this is the class for you.

Blademaiden

The Blademaiden is a very unique class that is suitable for players who enjoy micromanaging and positioning. This is because the unique skill of this class is that the puppet has the ability to mimic your ability.

For example, if you use the beam attack, your puppet will also copy that attack. So, you will need to ensure your puppet is positioned properly so that you can make the most out of it.

However, if you can utilize it properly, you will be able to deal devastating damage making it one of the strongest classes. If you face a skilled Blademaiden in PvP, they can be really annoying and devastating to fight against.

Musketeer

The final class archetype in Crystal of Atlan is the Musketeer. This class is more ranged compared to most of the others we have looked at. You’ll eventually have the chance to go down to two different subclasses which we’ll looked at next.

Gunner

The Gunner offers a more slow and methodical play style compared to the bounty hunter. This means that she has slow but really hard hitting attacks. On top of that, she also offers decent amount of control compared to other classes.

This is because you can use her to stun as well as throw large AoE controlled effects. While she does have some mobility, you’ll find that she feels slower compared to other classes.

Bounty Hunter

On the other hand, the Bounty Hunter is very much a dexterous class. You’ll find yourself using this class to chain together combos and dealing a lot of damage. On top of that, she offers a lot of mobility catches and burst damage.

This makes her a popular choice for PvP since she is one of the safer classes. You can safely engage and disengage which can help a lot.

Best Free To Play Class

A lot of players will be going with the free to play route in Crystal of Atlan. As a result, you’ll want a class that will benefit most without requiring investment for both PvE and PvP account.

The best option by far for free to play players is Elementalist.

This is because of her ability to reduce cooldowns. Typically, in most of the content like dungeons, you’ll find that you’re restricted a lot by cooldowns. This is why so many players try to get pets or gears to reduce cooldowns.

Since you have the ability to reduce cooldowns, you won’t depend as much on gear to be able to enjoy the in game content.

On top of that, he is a fairly safe class that offers excellent AoE and mobility for PvP. It’s everything you would expect from a mage in an MMO.

In this way, you will be able to compete without having to spend a ton of money.

Using Elementalist in Crystal of Atlan.

That’s everything you need to know to decide which class is the best for you. As you can see, each class offers it’s unique play style and benefits. We recommend that you go with whichever class interests you and fits you.

If you still can’t decide, then you can go with the safer options we mentioned, like the Elementalist or Berserker. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a unique playstyle, you could go for Starbreaker. Ultimately, you should go for whichever class you think is fun.
