Crystal of Atlan features a range of content – going from doing simple quests to engaging in fierce ranked battles. These ranked battles can get extremely competitive as players try to get the highest ranks possible. As a result, quite a few players get overwhelmed when they’re just starting out with PvP. If you’re struggling with PvP too, not to worry – we’ve got you covered! In this guide, we’ll break down everything you need to know to increase your PvP knowledge and get better at matchups. Without further delay, let’s get into it!
PVP Guide for Noobs
There is a misconception among players that how you perform in PvP is related directly to the class you choose. While being comfortable with a class is important, there are quite a few tips that apply universally to all classes.
So, in this guide, we’ll go over tips that you can apply to any class you choose in PvP for Crystal of Atlan.
Learn Your Abilities
Skills for each class have different effects when it comes to PvP in Crystal of Atlan. This means that they work differently to the effects you would have in the PvE content i.e. Dungeons. To check these effects, start by going into the Skills menu.
Here, click on each skill and then select the PvE Effect tab. Here, you will be able to see the different attributes and effects they have in PvP.
You should go over all the PvP effects of your skills so that you know how they work when you use them in PvP. You’ll already feel an improvement in your game just by understanding the attributes of your abilities.
We recommend that you try out your abilities in the Training Ground so that you can actually test different combinations and damage numbers.

Super Armor & Armor Breaks
Two key attributes that you need to look out for are Super Armor and Armor Breaks. Each skill that you use will have these attributes at three different levels: Weak, Medium and Super.
Whenever you see the abbreviation SA, it means Super Armor.
Super Armor prevents you from getting damaged or stunned when you are hit with a skill. This makes it super important in PvP. So, if your opponent uses a basic ability with no armor break, you can use skills with Super Armor to protect yourself.

On the other hand, Armor Break exists to counter the presence of Super Armor. For example, if an enemy has a weak or Medium Super Armor, you can use Medium Armor Break to break through it.
You can check the Rules section of Crystal of Atlan for the full details on which level of Armor Break can counter which level of Super Armor.
This is where Super SA shines as it counters all types of hits. In PvP, you can use skills with super SA as a last ditch effort to stop the enemy from attacking you or breaking a combo.
However, keep in mind that super SA is generally reserved for Ultimates, which can have large cooldowns and energy costs. So, only use it as a last resort for its Super Armor.

You can also get Medium Super Armor courtesy of the Special Quick Recovery skill that all classes have. This skill can allow you to break off the enemy from attacking, which can be incredibly useful for escaping combos.
However, a lot of players make mistakes by using this skill whenever they get hit. This is a waste of the Special Quick Recovery, as it has a very huge cooldown of 2 minutes. So, in a PvP match, you’ll typically only get 1-2 chances to use it. After all, matches only last up to 3 minutes.
This is why we recommend that you use Special Quick Recovery only as a last resort. Only use it when the enemy is following up on their engagements and actually unleashing a combo on you. On top of that, your goal should also be to follow up and punish the enemy.

Additionally, you can also get Super Armor by using the Extreme Dodge passive, which activates when you dodge an enemy’s attack at the last moment. This is a Super SA, meaning that you’re essentially completely immune for 2 seconds.
So, be sure to utilize this too, especially as you get better at dodging during your PvP encounters.

Double Jump Abilities
Once you’ve gotten an idea of what your skills can do, you’ll be able to utilize them more effectively. There are a lot of skills that you might find underwhelming when you use them on the ground.
However, when you use these skills after double jumping, they can have completely different results. Some abilities require you to aim when on the ground. However, using these skills in the air actually allows you to auto aim.
When activated, these skills will automatically hone on the opponent. This makes them excellent for engaging enemies in fights, or even just adding variety to battles.
On top of that, some skills even have extended range when you use them after double jumping. So, if there are some abilities you don’t like using, do test them out by jumping in the training ground.

Basic Attack Juggling
Learning to juggle in PvP can take your game to the next level. You can use certain abilities to knock enemies into the air. This is only possible after they’re staggered and you break their super armor.
After you’ve knocked enemies in the air, you can actually keep there using your basic attacks and skills. This is known as juggling and is really useful for unleashing combos.
With basic attacks, you can keep enemies in the air and juggle them for up to two basic attack rotations. After these rotations, the enemy will automatically fall back to the ground.
This is incredibly useful as you can deal massive amounts of damage even if you run out of stamina. For example, classes like Berserkers have really strong basic attack rotations.
However, you can actually further extend your juggling beyond the two basic attack rotations. To do this, you can use an ability in the middle of the rotations to reset the basic attack rotation. Just make sure that the ability you use actually knocks enemies into the air, and not on the ground.
You can do this until the enemy hits their first HP threshold, at which point the enemy will fall to the ground regardless of what you do. HP thresholds act like protection to prevent you from infinitely juggling and enemy.
Most opponents find juggles very annoying to deal with, so it’s a useful ability to have. We break down juggling and other combos in our ultimate scytheguard guide, if that’s a class you enjoy using.

Stamina Management
Another important thing to understand is that each skill you use in Crystal of Atlan has an energy cost associated with it. You can check this by going into each individual skill and checking the Skill Effect.
Usually the strongest skills, like your Ultimates, will have the highest Energy Costs. So, ideally, you’ll want to manage your stamina so that you can make the best use of these abilities.
There is a trick that you can use for these high cost abilities. In Crystal of Atlan, even if you have only 1 Energy left in your bar, you’ll still be able to use any ability, regardless of their Energy Cost. This means you can use your Ultimate as long as you have at least 1 Energy left in your bar.
As a result, we recommend using high cost abilities as your last ability – especially as a finisher when you’re using combos. It will allow you to not only do much more damage but get enemies beyond their HP threshold.

That’s everything you need to know for the Crytal of Atlan PvP Guide. By utilizing these tips, you will easily be able to reach the Gold rank, perhaps even more. As a final piece of advice, we strongly encourage you to learn your match ups.
Crystal of Atlan allows you to make multiple alt accounts. In this way, you can try out different classes and see what skills they offer. So, if you ever face an opponent belonging to that class, you’ll be better prepared to deal with them and further improve your PvP skills. Good luck!
