While uncovering the secrets of the abandoned workshop, you’ll come across a variety of puzzles in Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic. For some of these puzzles, you’ll need to find items so that you can progress through the game. At the recycling center, you’ll need to find a bunch of recycling cubes so that you can access the Maintenance area. They are hidden all around the area and can be quite difficult to find. In this guide, we’ll show you the locations of all the trash cubes so that you can complete the puzzle. Without further delay, let’s get into it!
All Basement Trash Recycling Center Locations
The recycling cube locations are not the same for all players in FNAF: Secret of the Mimic. This means that the locations are randomized for everyone – so two players will not have the same location.
In this guide, we’ll show you all the possible locations that we know of for the trash cube locations. It is possible that we might have missed out on some – but they will all be in the general area. You’ll also need to get the admin upgrade here, which we’ll go over too.
Additionally, after you acquire a trash cube, you will need to put it in a Trash Chute before you can progress. There are multiple Trash Chutes all around the area – so you shouldn’t be too far from them!
Some players have reported that you can get soft locked in this puzzle. To prevent this, you can even throw a toy rat in the chute and it will count – in case you can’t seem to find another trash cube.
Eventually, you’ll come across the loading bay so you can get to the Admin Wing. Check out our loading bay puzzle guide, so you can get past this part too!
Trash Cube Location #1
The first trash cube can be found in the trash compactor right next to a trash chute. Both of these can be found near the red Chutes button.
Simply open the compactor and you’ll find the trash cube inside. From here, throw the cube inside the chute.
Trash Cube Location #2
From the Chute button, turn left and you’ll come across a small room near a door. The trash cube should be on the floor, ready for you to dispose.
Be careful though as there are enemies patrolling the area.
Trash Cube Location #3
Proceed further into the map and you should come across another trash compactor next to a vent. Open the compactor and you’ll find a trash cube inside.
Keep note of this vent as you can use it to get inside the Admin Upgrade room, which we’ll look at towards the end of the guide.
Trash Cube Location #4
Near one of the crusher distractors, you’ll see another trash compactor in a corner. Open it to find another possible trash cube.
Trash Cube Location #5
The area also has small bedrooms that you can go inside. Inside one of the bedrooms, you should be able to find a possible trash cube. It will be lying on the bed.
Trash Cube Location #6
Head down the back right hallway from the Chute button. You’ll find yourself in a small room that has a table on it. One of the trash cubes can also spawn on the table.
Trash Cube Location #7
When you go through one of the vents, you’ll find yourself inside a red lit room with animatronics in the corner. The trash cube will be on the floor near their feet.
You might have to look closely though as they can be difficult to spot in the dark – especially if a crusher is chasing you!
Trash Cube Location #8
Go through one of the vents near a trash compactor, and you’ll find yourself in the Admin Upgrade room. You should be able to spot the trash cube on the table, right next to the console.
The Admin Upgrade is also necessary, and requires an additional puzzle to solve. We’ll show you how you can solve it next.
Admin Upgrade Puzzle Location
Start by interacting with the console in the room and select the Admin Permission option. This will allow you to further upgrade the Data Diver.
After you’re done, you’ll be met with a puzzle. To solve this puzzle, you’ll need to make sure that all the numbers on the screen show 1.
From the starting screen, here are the options you need to select to complete the Admin Upgrade puzzle:
- 1. High Track
- 2. Middle Track
- 3. High Track (after the middle bit in the third column is converted to 1 so it hits two bits)
- 4. Low Track
- 5. Middle Track
- 6. Low Track
Doing so will allow all the bits to be converted to 1, and you’ll be able to successfully acquire the upgrade. From here, simply leave the room but be careful as crushers are still about.
Recycling Center Exit Location
Once you’ve disposed of all the trash cubes, a sound will play indicating that you’ve gotten all the ones you need. From here, go to the Chutes button and you’ll see that it has lit up. Press the button and immediately run to the open Maintenance door.
At this point, crushers will likely chase you so you’ll need to be fast!
That’s everything you need to know about all the trash cubes in the recycling center of FNAF: Secret of the Mimic. This part of the game can be quite annoying – especially since some players have reported that they can get soft locked. But we suggest that you still look around the area if you can’t find trash cubes. It’s better to be thorough then having to restart the whole game – since the game’s save system is so punishing!
