Quite a few players have started to reach the endgame stage of Crystal of Atlan, trying to optimize their character as far as they can. This means that you’ll need to take care of a variety of aspects – which includes your gear, circuits, insignia and so on. One question that many endgame players arrive at is whether they should go for the Destiny Set or Hex Chess Gear. Generally, this requires a switch which can be difficult to make at such a late stage of the game. In this guide, we’ll address the question and give you recommendations for what you should do. With that said, let’s dive in!

Destiny Set vs. Hex Chess Gear – Which is Better?

Before we get into the guide, it’s important to keep in mind that this guide is suited for endgame players. If you’re still starting out or haven’t reached the stage, you might not benefit from this decision.

Instead, you might want to check out our equipment guide which will give you a roadmap to reach higher level gear.

How Switching Works

Switching from your class gear set, also known as the Destiny Set, to the Hex Chess gear is a dilemma that quite a few players face when they reach the endgame. Whether you should make the jump depends on a variety of factors.

Starting off, you need to understand that Level 65 gear is not linked to your old Level 60 Armor. That means you’ll have to build your new set from scratch, which is not ideal.

It means that you will can’t level your Level 60 gear to Level 65 in a straightforward manner. As a result, you will need to resort to the Flawless Inheritance system.

Should You Make The Switch?

Honestly, if you’re only interested in clearing the content in Crystal of Atlan, your class specific gear i.e. your destiny set, is more than enough to deal with the current content. So, unless you’re a hardcore minmaxer or high roller, you do not need to spend your materials, gold and time on this transition.

Not to mention, the transition will also take away some of your sanity.

The only thing that carries over from Level 60 to Level 70 is your Weapon. So, we recommend that you invest here and get your Hex Weapon upgraded. You can save your resources for the Armor when it actually matters.

If You Do Want To Transition

If you do decide to transition, using just one piece of the new Hex Chess raid gear won’t break your class specific destiny set. This means that your five piece set bonus will still remain active.

In fact, the five piece set bonus will remain even if you use a second piece from a different raid gear set. For example, you could use one Chariot and one Cavalry piece, and you’d still have the set bonus.

If you do want to keep your five gear bonus, we recommend you do not change more than two pieces. If you go beyond that, things will change. The moment you equip a third piece, you will lose the four and five piece set bonus.

Instead, you will end up activating the three piece bonus from the new raid set, and two piece bonus from the destiny set. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and you can get a combination of different set bonus.

However, you should consider this when switching, so you can get a combo that suits your play style and preferences.

Wrap Up

That’s everything you need to know about whether you should stick to the destiny set or go for the Hex Chess Gear. Generally, we recommend that you do not make the switch – at least as things currently stand. You’ll be able to have a comfortable time with your class specific gear and can save your resources when an upgrade is actually needed. Of course, if you’re a hardcore player or just playing for fun, then you can definitely make the switch. It’s all up to you!
