If you’re anything like me, you probably stared at that Tarnished Kubikiri in Rune Slayer and thought, “Surely farming Demon Hearts can’t be that bad, right?” Spoiler: It can. Demon Hearts are RNG hell, and the drop rate feels cursed, but there are some super cheesy farming methods that still work, and I’m going to walk you through all of them. I’ve personally tested these routes and setups, got multiple drops, and made it out alive (mostly). If you’re tired of wasting hours with no progress, this guide will save you time, health pots, and probably your sanity.
How To Get Demon Heart Fast
Demon Hearts are one of the most annoying mid-to-late game items to grind in Rune Slayer. You need them for high-tier weapons like the Tarnished Kubikiri katana, which, despite being awesome, has a drop requirement that’ll make you want to drop the game.
Worse, Demon Hearts don’t have a 100% drop chance. You can kill ten enemies who can drop them and get absolutely nothing. That’s where cheese farming comes in, low effort, low risk, and surprisingly efficient.
I’ll be walking you through the three best Demon Heart farming methods, all of which use simple cheese tactics that still work as of writing this guide:

Method #1: Imp Cheese Farm
If you can’t 1v1 an Imp (1% drop chance) without getting deleted, this one’s for you.
How it works:
- Find the imp near the Frost Hollow.
- Aggro it and bait it toward the hole.
- Let it hit you a couple times so it follows you.
- Lead it to the edge and let it fall in.
- Run back up the stairs and shoot it from above while it’s stuck.
Boom. Free kill. No risk. This cheese has been around since the dinosaurs and still works.
Once you finish:
- Regen your HP.
- Server hop if you want to reset the spawn faster.
- Repeat until you see that sweet Demon Heart drop.
Method #2: Fiend Cheese Farm (Balhgar Chasm)
This one’s my personal favorite. It’s consistent, safe, and surprisingly efficient.
How to get there:
- Follow the winding bridges, beware of the imps that can knock you into lava.
- Jump your way across the platforms and head toward the Frost Hollow (cooling zone).
- Watch for another imp near the entrance, and you’ll see some Mithril ore you can farm along the way.
- Now you’ll need a wall-penetrating skill like Earth Wall (or something similar).
At the Fiend cheese spot:
- Wait for the Fiend (2% drop chance) to get close enough.
- Use Earth Wall to hit through the barrier.
- Then stand in this safe spot and just spam your M1s.
It’s basically a free kill again, zero risk. Once you’re done, go back to the main menu and server hop to reset him. This is one of the fastest and safest ways to farm Fiends, and yep, it still works today. I actually got two Hell Pearls and a Demon Heart doing this earlier, no joke.
Method #3: Darius Demon Portal Farm – Higher Drop Rate
Now if you’re done cheesing walls and want a fight with better odds, Darius is your guy.
Why it’s good: Darius seems to have a higher chance of dropping Demon Hearts compared to Imps and Fiends. Plus, he’s easier to access than most bosses.
How to find Darius:
- First Location: Start at Lakeshire → follow the main path straight → turn right at the end → drop down into the ravine.
- You’ll find the Demon Sect Portal near the river where all those beavers chill. Darius randomly spawns just outside it.
- Second Location: Head to Balhgar. It’s a bit more out of the way, but he spawns there too. Same stuff , different zip code.
NOTE: His spawn rate is criminal. I once waited an actual day, nothing. He can even spawn inside the wall, so don’t just stand there, look around.
He’s tough, so bring your gear and maybe a friend. While farming for Darius Greataxe (5% drop chance), me and my buddy picked up a few Demon Hearts (25% drop chance) along the way, so this is 100% worth mixing into your rotation.
Wrap-Up
And there you go, the holy trinity of Demon Heart farming in Rune Slayer. Whether you’re wall-cheesing Fiends, baiting Imps into a hole like a Saturday morning cartoon, or smacking Darius until he finally drops something useful, you’ve now got solid, low-risk options to farm smarter, not harder.
I’ve burned through enough HP pots and emotional stability testing these routes, so you don’t have to. Now go get that Demon Heart, craft your Kubikiri, and swing it like you didn’t just spend 3 hours luring demons into geometry.
