Complete Journal Guide In Roblox DIG (100% Journal)

Because apparently, 287 out of 288 isn't enough.

After spending way too many hours digging holes, getting 20 duplicates of the wrong mythic, and raging over one missing journal entry, I finally did it. Full journal completed in Roblox DIG. And now, I’m here to help you do the same (without losing your patience). Whether you’re stuck on that one cursed fish, missing some fuzzy creature in the valley, or just want to grab that shiny Prismatic Domino Crown charm ASAP, this guide covers every zone, every rare item, and how I found them. Let’s get into it.

Complete Journal Guide

Every time you dig up a new item in DIG, it gets logged into your Journal. Each zone has its own page, and completing a full page earns you a stamp, and more importantly, unique charms, shovel skins, and exclusive titles.

Here’s what you’re working toward:

Let’s go area-by-area. I’ll give you the shovel setups, seasonal preferences, and farming tips that actually worked for me.

Fernhill Forest

Starting in Fernhill Forest, because honestly this is where most of players seem stuck. For commons, your best friend is the Magnet Shovel. It gives -100 luck, so it pulls mostly junk like cogs, rubber tubes, etc., perfect for those missing low-tier items.

Then, go grab the Item Detector from the merchant (10k gold). It lets you scan for hidden items around the map. For example, I found Bread with it, which took me forever before using the scanner. Super helpful.

Now for the weird or harder stuff:

  • Washing Machine (Epic): Use a mid-luck shovel, something around 10–12. Don’t use charms that add luck, or you’ll start pulling too many legendaries. Your goal here is epics.
  • Cave Painting: Dig on rocks anywhere in Fernhill.
  • Teddy Bear: Took me ages. Go for clear weather, high luck shovel, and dig in grass, anywhere in Fernhill.
  • Tiger Frog: Two preferences, autumn + foggy weather. Dig anywhere, focus on triggering both conditions.

Bowling Trophy: Found at Foxtown (use item scanner if needed).

  • OMB Statue: Lighthouse is where I’ve had the best luck, and a few friends confirmed it too. Try digging around there.
  • Pot of Gold (Divine): Supposed to be Fernhill-exclusive, but I actually pulled one in Rooftop Woodlands, so maybe it’s map-wide. Try during rainbow weather + 2x shiny event if it’s active.
  • Grandfather Clock (dig on the road for this one), Diamond Ring: Dig anywhere in Fernhill, just make sure you’re hitting the right preferences (check journal).

The rest, like gnomes, old car, chairs, super common. You’ll grab those passively just grinding.

Verdant Vale

On to Verdant Valley. There are fewer items here, but a couple are still tricky.

  • For most commons, either use the Magnet Shovel or something with 0 luck like the Wooden Shovel.
  • Tractor Engine, Shovel Head: These have set spawn rates, so use your Item Detector. They’ll ping if you’re near.

Now let’s cover the tough ones:

  • Pig & Cow: The Pig has an actual abundance area, just scan around and dig there. Cow is weird, no set spawn, but I’ve pulled some near the merchant. They’re rare and frustrating; dig around and pray.
  • Painting (Epic): Surprisingly annoying to get. I pulled it once during clear weather, recommend focusing on that.
  • Scythe: It’s not tied to a specific spot. Don’t dig in the Pig area. I had more luck digging on the opposite side of the map.
  • Pickle: Weirdly tough. But I found several in the Pig abundance area, so just try there.
  • Weaponized Stick: I honestly don’t remember where I got mine, but it’s summer season, possibly during meteor shower.
  • Turnip Head: Super easy to get. I’ve pulled multiple just casually digging, no sweat.

And then the infamous ones:

  • Fuzzball & Fuzzy: These are awful. You’ll need to find a specific flower in the valley, it’s a small white one with a fuzzy top. I’ll flash the image on screen so you know what to look for. They spawn randomly across Verdant, but it’s rare.

Best tip? Server hop or join the official Discord of Roblox DIG, there are people tracking flower spawns and posting private server links. That’s how I finally got mine.

Cinder Shores

Now on to Cinder Shores, where most people get stuck on fish, divines, and weird purples.

  • For commons, use your Wooden Shovel or something with 0 luck. Stack strength charms so you can dig faster.
  • A lot of the epics can be scanned with your Item Detector, especially near the mid-sand zones.

Now the tricky ones:

  • Duck Floatie: This one took me about 20 digs once I figured out where to go. Dig around the darker sand near the shore. I pulled mine during a meteor shower using my Starfire Shovel.
  • Giant Fish Cracker (Divine): I also got this in the same spot as the Duck Float. It might be tied to the same biome. Same setup, meteor, Starfire, high luck.
  • Bold and Brash: Also pulled near the dark sand area. This seems to be the hotspot for most of the difficult fish-related items.

Most of the plushies like Shark, Duck, etc., are pretty easy, just use Item Detector and dig around beaches.

Also quick tip: if you’re struggling to trigger weather preferences, go over to the horn merchant near Foxtown. You can buy:

  • Storm Horn (summons storm)
  • Tempest Horn (rain)
  • Horizon Horn (skip time)

These help a ton when hunting for weather-locked items.

Rooftop Woodlands

All right, guys, let’s talk Rooftop Woodlands. Most of the commons, rares, and even some of the epics here are super manageable, you just have to dig around and you’ll find them naturally as you explore the area. But the mythics? Yeah, those can be a pain, so I’ll focus more on those.

Let’s start with the Dark Oak Tree. There aren’t many of these, and it’s been hard to find, honestly. It took me a while. What worked for me was digging around the central area of Rooftop Woodlands. I actually got mine kind of randomly near one of the green patches after just a couple digs. Pure luck, but it worked, so definitely check around those areas.

Now for some specific items:

  • Ghosts and Wisps can be found near the NPC with the ectoplasm sleeve quest. It’s a tough one if you’re newer, but that sleeve is worth picking up early on.
  • I’ve also found Raccoon and Brown Bear in that ghost area, but they can spawn all over Rooftop Woodlands too.
  • Woodland Staff? Dig literally anywhere in this biome. Same thing for Pot of Gold, though that one also spawns in Fernhill Forest.
  • The Finn’s Sword took me forever. Again, I was searching around the center, and eventually lucked out. That seems to be the best strategy for a lot of these.

And of course, boss accessories only drop from, you guessed it, the boss. So make sure you take that one out when you’re ready.

Cinder Cavern

All right, now let’s head into Cinder Cavern, this place is packed with difficult items, so I’m going to try to walk you through every tricky one.

Starting with the commons like the Metal Pipe, they tend to spawn deeper in the cave system, especially on the way to Azure Hollow. It took me a bit to find these too, but they’re definitely down there. Again, your Item Detector is your best friend here.

Once you’re at the bottom of the elevator, take a look around, you’ll start seeing things like Slate, Chalk, and Sulfur almost right away.

Now for the more annoying stuff:

  • Coal — for whatever reason, most players struggle with this one. Use a low-luck pickaxe and keep checking the caves.

Jin, the God of Gold

This boss is found in the spider area of Cinder Cavern, and trust me, the spawn rate isn’t generous.

To find the spider area, follow the spiderwebs along the cave walls. You’ll see one, then another, keep following until you reach a large webbed cavern. Inside, you can also dig up the Spider Eye (use low luck again), and this is where Jin spawns. You’ll also find other rare stuff like Rock Statues, Gold Cards, and Digletts here.

You can also summon the boss here with a horn if you have one, same as other regions.

Golem Divine

Next, let’s talk about the Golem (Divine). You’ll want to head toward the Azure Hollow path, staying away from the spider area. This thing can spawn pretty much anywhere deep in the cave, and I’ve gotten it from multiple spots. Use your detector often, I picked up a Coal and Metal Pipe right by walking one of the paths.

Celestial Crystal

And now for one of the big ones, the Celestial Crystal. This one spawns in a few places around Cinder Cavern, but one reliable spot is just before entering Azure Hollow. I’ve personally dug it up right here, and a few of my friends have confirmed this spot too.

Azure Hollow

Once you’re inside Azure Hollow, you’ve got two big ones to hunt: Tanzanite and the Blueshroom. Tanzanite was actually my last item, took forever to find, so I know the pain. But honestly, once I started digging right here in this open area, I got it fairly quick.

The Divine Blueshroom, on the other hand, is way more forgiving. I’ve found like 10 of them in Azure Hollow. So if you’re missing that one, just dig around, you’ll get it eventually.

Quick tip: grab a basic shovel like a Training Shovel, slap an Enchant Totem on it (just one is enough), and you’ll get a blessing for +0.5 luck for 10 minutes. It may not sound like a lot, but when you’re hunting Divine items, it adds up.

Some of the other mythics and legendaries like Diamond are pretty easy here too, so I’m not focusing too much on those.

Mount Cinder

Alright, as for Mount Cinder, most of your common items here can be spotted easily using the Item Detector. As you can see, you’ll get a good mix of purples, greens, and even some legendaries just by scanning around the area.

Now let’s talk about some of the more elusive ones, starting with the Frostbug. This is a mythic, and while it can spawn anywhere in Mount Cinder, your best shot is during the Winter season, ideally with decent luck charms or enchant boosts. It took me a few tries, but I finally pulled it out after a solid Winter rotation.

Wooly Mammoth

The Woolly Mammoth is surprisingly tricky. A lot of people assume Polar Abundance is the best place to farm it, but honestly, you’ll just drown in polar bears. If you’re specifically looking for the Mammoth or Frostbug, I recommend farming outside of the abundance zones in regular Mount Cinder terrain.

Glacial Hollow

Moving on to Glacial Hollow, this is where you’ll want to dig for the Snowflake and Ice Tree. Same idea: winter season is your best friend here, and keep an eye on the preference system to boost spawn chances.

As for the Ice Staff, it’s pretty flexible. You can find it almost anywhere in Mount Cinder. A lot of players already have it, so this shouldn’t be too tough.

Light Plane

Now let’s talk about the Light Plane. This one gave me some trouble. Head over to the small crash site area in Mount Cinder, it’s near a set of containers buried halfway into the ground.

You’ll see helicopters nearby (you can’t dig that one), but the actual light plane diggable version spawns around that area. I got mine during a stormy weather + winter combo with a meteor active, so that might help boost your odds.

Copper Mesa

Alright, now let’s make our way to Copper Mesa. Let’s start with the Talking Bass. I’ve found this one a couple times inside the Saloon, which lines up with the hint it gives, but I also believe it can spawn anywhere in Copper Mesa. Still, if you’re hunting it, start with the Saloon.

Now onto the Lightsaber, this one’s super random. I found it 3 or 4 times while farming the Dinosaur Spine Abundance zone, but I’ve heard reports of it spawning in all sorts of spots. So honestly, just keep grinding Copper Mesa and it’ll pop up eventually.

Commons here aren’t too bad, but as always, if you’re missing a couple, just use your Item Detector. This place is packed with item spawns, greens, blues, legendaries, it’s got everything.

Now, for the Jukebox, it can spawn in both Mount Cinder and Copper Mesa. If you’re still missing it, try hopping between the two areas until you find it.

The Bison and Revolver, again, anywhere in Copper Mesa. For the Revolver, I’ve pulled it multiple times from the Dinosaur Spine Abundance zone. If you’re struggling with it, that’s the spot I recommend.

Meteor, Basilisk & Basilisk Fang

Now, Meteor, this is a big one. And yeah, it’s tricky. Head to the central pit in Copper Mesa, the really foggy, dusty-looking area at the bottom. The journal hint says “dusty,” and it’s not lying. You’ll want to dig here while a meteor is active. Without a meteor, you can still get it, but the chances are way lower.

Lastly for this area: Basilisk and Basilisk Fang, you’ll get both from killing the boss. Simple as that.

Alona Jungle

Next stop: Alona Jungle. Starting with the Papaya, it mentions bushes in the hint, but realistically, just search the grassy areas. I’ve had the best luck digging in grassy patches, and the Item Detector definitely helps here.

Same goes for the Golden Idol, no ultra-specific spot, but again, dig around in grass and you should find it eventually.

The Life Fruit is tied to the Spring season, and I believe Giraffes help with the preference boost for that one. Again, just dig anywhere in the jungle, and it should show up in due time.

I actually didn’t struggle much with the rest of the items in Alona Jungle. I found them all just digging around casually, so nothing too precise here.

Mount Charcoal

Alright, final zone, Mount Charcoal. You’ll need Magma Boots to enter, talk to the quest NPC nearby to start the boot questline. It’s not hard, just takes some time.

Now, the hardest item here by far for me was the Cave Painting. The hint talks about rocks, but let’s be honest, everything in Mount Charcoal is rock. There’s no clear “rock face” to target. What worked for me was digging on top of the boss arena platform. I had a meteor going and dropped a totem, and after a few tries, I finally pulled it up.

Another item players have trouble with is the Fire Flower. Honestly, same deal, just dig around Mount Charcoal, especially during night or fire season, and it’ll show up eventually.

Most of the other items in this area can spawn anywhere within Mount Charcoal. That’s kind of the trend with a lot of these: unless the hint is super specific, it’s often just about digging enough in the right conditions.

Wrap-Up: You’re Always Closer Than You Think

Completing the Journal in Roblox DIG isn’t just about luck, it’s about understanding how the weather, abundance, and preference systems work. Once you learn how to read those hints and optimize your digging, everything becomes easier. I’ve been there, staring at that one empty spot for hours wondering if it even exists. But I promise, if you keep grinding smart (not just hard), you’ll get there.

And hey, even if you don’t care about the Prismatic Domino Crown or the titles, there’s something really satisfying about finishing the full Journal. Up next, if you want to take your Prismatic & Starfire shovels to the absolute max, and really start printing cash with that Domino Crown charm, check out my guide on the best enchantments for Prismatic & Starfire shovels in Roblox DIG!
