If you’ve finished the Edge of Fate main campaign in Destiny 2 and grabbed your shiny new Graviton Spike, you’ve probably noticed those glowing blue flowers, spinning fans, and weird vents scattered around the new destinations. That’s your cue, those are part of the Graviton Spike intrinsic upgrade puzzles, and this guide breaks them all down. Some are easy. Others are hidden behind tricky movement, teleportation pads, or buffs like Matterspark and Metamorph. If you’re trying to unlock Temporal Manipulation upgrades and eventually your Graviton Spike Catalyst, here’s how to do it.
All Graviton Spike Intrinsic Upgrade Locations Guide
There are three confirmed intrinsic upgrades for Graviton Spike, and they don’t need to be collected in any specific order, just make sure you’ve got the weapon equipped when doing each puzzle.
- Caldera – Solve a simple Arc + Stasis fan puzzle below the settlement. This is the most straightforward and likely your first upgrade.
- Stellar Sink – Take the train and use Arc + Stasis again, but this one involves some RNG timing with a spinning fan.
- Curtilage Divide – More complicated. You’ll need to find and activate the Metamorph buff, then solve a flower puzzle to crawl through a fan room inside a hut.
- Possible Fourth – One player (me) may have found a hidden teleport puzzle. There’s a hidden telepad with no clear trigger, so far, it remains unsolved, but I’m sharing my discovery to help others look.
Each of these puzzles grants a Temporal Manipulation upgrade, which allows Graviton Spike to interact with the world in new ways, helping with exotic progression and unlocking the exotic catalyst later on. I’ve broken each one down in detail with step-by-step instructions and clips below.

Intrinsic Upgrade #1 – Caldera (Temporal Manipulation II)
Start at the Caldera transmat zone and take the left path down the stairs, hugging the wall until you spot a blue glowing flower on the rocks.

Step-by-step:
- Shoot the flower with Graviton Spike in Arc mode.
- Hold reload to swap to Stasis, then shoot the newly revealed vent crystal.
- The fan will stop spinning. Head inside the fan room.
- Roll through the Matterspark hole and grab the first intrinsic upgrade on the box inside.
You’ve just unlocked Temporal Manipulation I. On to the next one.
Intrinsic Upgrade #2 – Stellar Sink (Temporal Manipulation III)
This one’s tucked inside the Stellar Sink, which you can reach quickly by taking the train from Assimilate Easement.

Step-by-step:
- Transmat to Assimilate Easement and take the train tunnel.
- Follow the main linear path (no puzzles here) until you reach the Metal Spark room.
- Clear enemies for safety.
- Look up for the blue flower pod and shoot it with Arc mode.
- Swap to Stasis mode, shoot the crystal to freeze the fan.
- Wait for the fan hole to align (RNG-dependent).
- When it’s safe, roll through and grab Temporal Manipulation IV.
Tip: These can be done in any order, the number just refers to how the game logs them.
Intrinsic Upgrade #3 – Curtilage Divide (Temporal Manipulation IV)
This one’s in Curtilage Divide, inside a hut with a locked fan vent. You’ll need to grab the Metamorph buff to open the door.

Step-by-step:
- Transmat to Curtilage Divide.
- Take the left path, ignoring the second portal.
- Head toward the large cavern with multiple Fallen platforms.
- Look for the hut with a flower pod sticking out of the roof.
- Grab the Metamorph buff from a high ledge on the far side.
- Shoot the flower (Arc mode), then use Stasis to stop the fan.
- Crawl inside and collect the intrinsic from the now-safe room.
That’s Temporal Manipulation III, and you’re nearly done.
Possible 4th Intrinsic – Hidden Teleport Puzzle?
Now, this part isn’t confirmed yet, but I may have found something.
While exploring, I stumbled across what looks like another Graviton Spike puzzle, but this one involves teleportation. The telepad is completely hidden, and after an hour of searching, I still haven’t found where the entrance or trigger point is.
It’s one of the trickiest puzzles I’ve seen so far in Edge of Fate, and if it turns out to be real, I’ll update the guide ASAP with a full walkthrough.
How Graviton Spike Intrinsics Work
If you’re wondering what these upgrades are even for, they’re part of a set of passive enhancements for Graviton Spike called Temporal Manipulation.
Each one unlocks:
- New puzzle-interaction options
- Buff-related fan bypassing or puzzle logic
- Progress toward unlocking the Graviton Spike Catalyst
They’re also a big deal for catalyst fragment farming, so don’t skip them.

Wrap-Up: Keep Exploring, More Might Be Hidden
So far, three Temporal Manipulation upgrades have been confirmed for the Graviton Spike, and they’re all puzzle-based, involving Arc and Stasis firing modes, environmental buffs, and clever traversal. The possible fourth involving teleportation remains a mystery for now, but we’ll update this guide once it’s confirmed and cracked.
These upgrades aren’t just for completion’s sake either. They unlock deeper puzzle interactions and are directly tied to Catalyst fragment progression, so if you want to fully power up Graviton Spike, make sure you knock these out.
