Survival in Grounded 2 can be quite challenging at times. While you’ll spend a lot of your time gathering resources, some recipes will require you to get specific resources you can only get from certain insects. These insects can be found throughout the map, but some of them are located in specific areas. The Praying Mantis Nymph is one such creature that you’ll want to get for its drops eventually – especially for the Mantis Blade. However, some players have been struggling to find it. I, too, struggled with it until I realized the trick. In this guide, we’ll show you all the locations where you can find the Praying Mantis. Let’s get into it!
Praying Mantis Location
The Praying Mantis Nymph in Grounded 2 always spawn around specific pink flowers. You can spot these pink flowers by checking the map and seeing them there.
We recommend checking the map during the day as the pink flowers are much easier to see that way.
Be sure to look up at the leaves near the flowers as Praying Mantis Nymphs are often perched up. Once you manage to aggro one, they will drop down to fight you.

Currently, we only know of 5 pink flowers on the Grounded 2 map. They’ve been marked on the map below, and can be found in the following locations:
- Lower right of the Entrance region
- Center of the Snackbar Front region
- Upper right corner of the Ceremony region
- Lower right of the Statue region – inside the flower bed
- Left of the Pine Hill region (not visible on the map).
So, more than likely, you’ll be able to find the Praying Mantis Nymphs in these locations. Look around carefully as sometimes leaves can cover them, or they might be roaming the area.
The great thing is that they respawn here as well. So, if you ever need to farm a Praying Mantis, just head here.

Praying Mantis Nymph Fight Strategy
The Praying Mantis can be a dangerous foe if you aren’t prepared. We recommend that you bring along a ranged weapon, as this is the most effective way to fight it.
At times, if you shoot it while it is up in the leaves, the Praying Mantis can also glitch and get stuck up there. This can allow you to simply kill it by shooting arrows.
If it does jump down, you can use another trick to cheese the fight. This involves using your buggy to mess with the Praying Mantis AI and standing at a height. If you bring the buggy near it, the Praying Mantis will focus on attacking the buggy.
This will give you the opportunity to simply fire at the Praying Mantis from a high perch. Once the buggy is dead, the Praying Mantis will try to look up at you but not be able to do anything. This will allow you to easily shoot at it until it dies.

Luckily, the Praying Mantis Nymph doesn’t have a second phase. After you defeat it, go to the body and harvest the remains. Doing so will give you the following drops:
- Praying Mantis Chunk
- Praying Mantis Head
- Praying Mantis Claw.
Be sure to get these drops as they will enable you to make the Mantis Blade, one of the best weapons in Grounded 2 at the moment. You might need to kill another Praying Mantis though before you have enough resources!

Wrap Up
That’s everything you need to know about finding the Praying Mantis in Grounded 2. Now that you know which pink flower to look out for, you’ll be able to find these creatures reliably. Since they are spread out, you should be able to find a spawn point relatively close to you. Be sure to make the Mantis Blade weapon as it will make dealing with boss fights and tough creatures much easier. Keep in mind though that the Praying Mantis can glitch out – but its understandable since it’s in early access. Later on, you might not be able to cheese it.
Another elusive creature is the Bee that also has some great drops. Check out our bee location guide so you can find it too!
