The re-release of TYPE://SOUL has changed things around a bit or reworked things that you were familiar with. Devil Trigger is one such weapon that has its requirements, steps and crit variants tweaked. It is one of the harder weapons to get, but it is certainly worth it. Depending on your race, you can also get a unique Devil Trigger crit variant. However, getting it is tough and you may also be confused about which crit variant you want. In this guide, we’ll be going over a cheese that you can use to get the devil trigger easily. We’ll also look at a showcase of the crit variants so you can decide which one you want. Let’s dive in!
How To Obtain Devil Trigger Easily & All Devil Trigger Crits Variants
Devil Trigger in Type Soul is a Universal Weapon that you can use for the following races: Arrancar, Soul Reaper & Quincy. Fullbringers cannot use it because their weapons are tied to elemental powers. Each race has a unique devil trigger crit variant.
However, to get the crit variant, you need to defeat the Vergil boss. This is one of the hardest boss fights in the game – so much so that you might need to use a cheese. We’ll show you how you can cheese the fight and also all the crit variants so you can decide which race you want to get it on.
How To Get To Vergil Boss Fight
Starting off, the first thing you need to do is progress through the Hell quest line. That means you need to go through the Highway, Ring 1 & Ring 2 until you reach Ring 3.
If you don’t know how the hell quest line works, check out our hellverse complete guide.
Once you reach Ring 3, you will need to look for an NPC called Yin. You can find them pretty easily by using the comma (,) button if you’re having trouble. Be careful around the Owls though as they can easily kill you when heading there.
Next, Interact with Yin and select the Chair dialogue option. After that finish the conversation.

After you’re done with Yin, head to the blue tornado in Ring 3. Simply progress through the area and you should be able to find it. Once you do, simply head inside and you’ll be teleported to a new area. This is the farming zone of Ring 3.
In this new area, you might have to farm a bit so you can get strong enough to fight Vergil. After all, he is extremely tough if you plan to take him on without using the glitch.

In the new area, you will need to look for the Vergil Chair. It is not far off from the ‘3’ NPC that you interact with for the Hiragana of the Final Ring boss fight.
Simply use the comma (,) button and you will be able to locate it as well. Interacting with the chair will start the boss fight.
Here are the requirements you need for the fight and to get Devil Trigger:
- x1 Dimensional Shard in Inventory (consumed for each boss fight)
- 60 Speed.
Some players have claimed that you need the Yamato as well for the fight. However, in our case, we did not end up needing it. More than likely, the developers changed the requirement.

Vergil Boss Fight Strategy
Vergil is an extremely difficult boss in Type Soul who relies on high damaging attacks with two phases. When his health pool reaches 50%, he will activate his Devil Trigger phase. This will boost both his speed and his damage even more.
The best way to fight him the legit way is to dodge his attacks and always stay moving. Manage your stamina efficiently or he will punish you.
You will likely not get him on the first try and this is difficult as you’ll need Dimensional Shards for each fight. So, to make the fight much easier and fair, you can use a cheese.
How To Cheese Vergil
If you want to cheese Vergil, because he is extremely tough, you will need to bring along friends. You will need at least one friend with you but we recommend bringing two to make it easier.
Make sure that they are in your party before you start.
Additionally, you will also need one person to have Shadows or Specter Step on them. This means they will need either a Quincy Kido or a full Speed build to have these moves.
Next, here are the steps that you need to do for the cheese:
- Have one friend interact with the chair and have the cursor above the Consume Dimensional Shard option
- The person with Shadows or Specter Step will use the move onto the friend and teleport to them
- Immediately start the boss fight to teleport to the boss arena.
Make sure that you Specter Step or Shadows onto the player around 1.5 seconds after the friend starts the fight. This is because there is a slight delay before the teleport.
Again, it is very easy to mess up this timing so make sure that you are coordinated with your friends. If you do mess up, you’ll need to take him on the legit way so be prepared!

If you get it right, the person who you teleported to can now Specter Step. This player must now stay away from the Vergil boss in the arena so he doesn’t aggro on to them.
The rest of you can fight him and he’ll be much easier to fight since he will not directly aggro on to you.
All you need to do is wittle his health down until you defeat him. Doing so will allow you to unlock your Devil Trigger. You can find it in your Skills tab.
The Devil Trigger crit phase will be different depending on your race, so let’s check them out next!

Devil Trigger Crits Variants Showcase
To get the Devil Trigger crit, you will need to charge up the green bar in the bottom right corner. You can do this by taking damage.
Once it fills up, you will get an armor that indicates the Devil Trigger crit is ready. The crit will be different for each race, as we’ll showcase next.

The armor design will be the same regardless of which race you are. However, depending on what race you have, the color of this armor will be different.
- Soul Reaper – Orange
- Arrancar – White
- Quincy – Blue.

Soul Reaper – Devil Trigger
The Soul Reaper crit allows you to do a quick series of slashes. The damage from this move is absolutely insane but this is more than likely nerfed by now.
On top of that, this move is unblockable making it extremely overpowered. The only issue is that it has a long windup, making it possible to dodge it.

Arrancar – Devil Trigger
The Arrancar devil trigger crit allows you to deal multiple slashes in a large AoE followed by some lingering lightning. Now, you may be wondering why it does barely any damage.
This is because this move stuns the enemy for around 3-5 seconds. As a result, you can use it for an easy combo starter.
On top of that, this move is unblockable as well and with such a large range, most players are not going to dodge it!

Quincy – Devil Trigger
This move allows you to summon blue swords above enemies around you. The number of blue swords will depend on how many opponents are there. They will quickly slash towards the enemy dealing damage.
Unlike the other crits, this one is blockable but you’ll have barely any time to react.

Wrap Up
That’s everything you need to know about how to obtain the Devil Trigger quickly and the different crit variants that you can get in Type Soul. Defeating Vergil is definitely the hardest part since he’s such a tough boss. Without the cheese, you could be fighting him for a long time. Additionally, the cheese itself is also hard to execute since the timing window is so small. Be sure to select the race you want before going through the steps so that you can get the crit that suits your playstyle and preference! All of them are unique and have their own uses.
