While Iron Blooded Orphans received mixed feelings from the fanbase, many people agree that Barbatos is one of the most unique Gundam designs in a long time, and has become a fan favorite amongst others. In this guide, we show you how you can play this iconic unit.
Barbatos Guide – Gundam Evolution
Barbatos is a close-range, melee focused unit. With 1000 HP and a dash limit of 3, Barbatos is a monster on the field with its large mace and incredibly speed and agility.
While playing melee in a game dominated by ranged weaponry, you will be surprised at how efficient Barbatos is in fighting against ranged enemies.
Barbatos’ main weapon in fighting is the Mace, which has a large area of effect. It doesn’t have much range due to it being a melee weapon, but the arc of the attack is so wide, you can hit two enemies, maybe a maximum of four.
Not only does the attack deal damage, but it also knocks back all nearby enemies, giving you space to breathe.
The sub weapon of Barbatos still utilizes the Mace, but instead of a wide arc of attack, Barbatos smashes the enemy in front of it into the ground. You can hold the attack until the charge meter reaches full to deal even more damage, including stunning the enemy. If you can have the opportunity, you can hit two enemies, maybe even three, with one smash attack.
For Barbatos’ skills, he can perform a Boost Jump that takes Barbatos high up into the sky. It’s useful if you want to reach high platforms, or want to try and catch fleeing enemy units that transformed and are flying away. It does have a short cooldown timer, but you can reset the cooldown immediately if you kill an enemy.
Barbatos’ other skill is the Long Sword attack. Barbatos initiates the attack by jumping up in the air with the sword, before driving the weapon down into the ground, damaging any nearby enemy and stunning them.
If you attack an enemy with low health, and the attack connects and the health is reduced to 0, the enemy will immediately be destroyed instead of being disabled.
Leaving the G Maneuver for last, Barbatos activates the Alaya-Vijnana System, which lets Barbatos perform a maximum number of 3 slash attacks on multiple units. This deals massive damage and with each slash, you immediately close the distance to your target in a second before attacking.
While Barbatos may not have a range attack, its attack and skills make up for the lack of ranged weaponry.
Melee focused players will definitely love playing Barbatos and truly experience why Barbatos is a terrifying Mobile Suit in the anime series.
