A Rival To Diablo Immortal? – Undecember Review

Undecember is a newly released hack-and-slash game that was released on the 12th of October. It is a brand-new game that promises to give a lot of new things and unique elements. Does it really do? – Not really. But it does have some good things going about it.

To better understand and have a clearer overview of Undecember we will divide this guide into Pros and Cons. Let’s start with the Pros first.

Pros

Although this game is absolutely slammed from players’ reviews, it does have a couple of good things going good for it. Don’t be one of those people that simply hop on the hate train for a game. Let’s see what are the biggest Pros.

Lots of Enemies At Once

While first playing Undecember you will not be seeing that many enemies at first. But as you progress through it, you will begin to be flabbergasted and completely shocked at how much things will be going on at once.

We simply love that aspect of the game where you will literally need to be slashing your way across and open new roads in the midst of tons of enemies and monsters. The abilities go a long way for this too.

You will have tons of abilities that will let you push and move enemies in big AoE circles and ranges. If this is not your cup of tea it will be a minus for you. But in a hack-and-slash game, you will of course want more targets to be hacking and slashing through.

Crafting

The crafting is very similar to Epoch. It is simple yet very rewarding and satisfying. You will be looking for items along the world and a big map, and then using those resources to craft yourself whatever you want.

It is a system that worked very well in Last Epoch and is basically the same in Undecember.

Skills

The skills are actually one of the best things about this game. You will be feeling as though you are using skills from PoE, which is a good thing. You are able to add links to the spells and skills that you are able to cast.

A very fun thing to do is adding the links very early on in the gameplay. Something that you aren’t allowed to do in other games. You are able to tweak your build from the first levels of the game and actually as you progress you can change it up.

You can choose between a lot of skills like the Cast on Channeling, Bleed Fissure, Cold Conversion, Poisons and etc.

Combat

The combat is something in the middle of the Last Epoch and PoE. It works. It is fast, deadly, and agile, and you will need to be precise and correct when choosing your attacks or defense. This is what makes it very rewarding.

It isn’t too special or anything like that, but for a hack-and-slash type of game, it is very good. The loot is also auto-pick up which is a very handy thing to have since you won’t want to be wasting extra time picking up all those items all over the ground.

Lots of Content

There are 10 acts, so there is a lot to see and do. End-game raids and dungeons are said to be fun, so we would love to try them out and update this review if we play long enough. That being said, lots of content is always welcomed.

Cons

We hate to do it, but recently all of the newer free-to-play titles are having major transactions and shop issues. Well, here we go starting with the Shop Con from the start.

Shop and Transactions

This turns most people away. The game has things like stash tabs, currency tabs, etc. that are helpful (like PoE). A pet membership thing that allows for automatic pick-up and take-down (like Lost Ark Season’s pass. And a bunch of bundles, most of which you can get by playing the game. It’s a typical mobile or Korean game in terms of things you can buy.

The cash shop, on the other hand, has a problem with your money. It costs 700 diamonds for a certain stash tab, like “materials,” which is money in PoE. Those 700 diamonds are worth about $32. PoE’s currency stash tab, on the other hand, costs 75 points, which is about $7.50.

For something that is similar in another game, it’s worth a little more than 4x. There are a lot of specialized tabs, and they all cost 700 diamonds each. Most of the things that can be bought cost between 100 and 700 diamonds. So, if you want to buy this game, it will cost you a lot.

Just like many other games in the past, the Shop and Transactions will be the death of this game. Let’s hope that it won’t be the case.

Clunky Movement

Combat feels a little slow, and it’s built around flashy effects and big numbers that take up half the screen. Potions are on auto use, and combat can be on auto use, too, so you can “play” this game while mostly being away from your computer.

Bosses and groups of mobs can be a bit dangerous if you don’t upgrade your gear and skills at least a little bit, but you will be only in danger of dying once in the first act if you stopped being careful and started to rush around.

Graphics

This might come as a personal preference since there are 2 sides to it. But the players that are louder and more in number are the ones that do not like how the style and graphics feel for this game.

Most of the time you will be dealing with a lot of enemies, but you’ll get animations that aren’t that well and fun to look at.

Bugs and Issues

Players are experiencing a lot of bugs from the release date. Sometimes you will get an error even while trying to enter the game. Some players are completely blocked out and can’t even join at all.

There are big game breaking bugs where sometimes you won’t be able to enter a part of the map just because it wasn’t finished in development. You will get random crashes from time to time as well .

These are all things that can be fixed, but we felt as though you should know them before you give this game a try. There are many other bugs too.

Pay 2 Win

You can buy every item available on the auction shop with reallife money. Every, item, is available.

That means, that when some players will decide to buy a couple of items, which are crazy expensive too, they will become the strongest ones. It is a very big Pay 2 Win system which is simply downright offensive and should be tweaked a bit.

This is the biggest turn-off for a lot of players as they simply call this the credit card simulator.

You will also keep getting random notifications to pay for new things that other people own already. Even on random log-ins. You will feel as though you are pressured to buy something in the game.

Mobile Port

This is a mobile port game just in case you didn’t know. That means that you will need to be giving a lot of your information like telephone numbers and things to be able to play the game. Some people find this very intrusive and a minus.

Overall & Rating

Yet another game that is a victim of the Transaction and Shop in-game system. Undecember is a very fun game to play and you will actually enjoy the overall experience. It does have that PoE and Epoch feeling about it.

Summary

The bugs can be definitely fixed in the future, hopefully. But when it comes to the shop and transactions this game is a very big Pay 2 Win. That is why our rating for it is 2.8 out of 5.

2.8

Thank you very much for checking out our review on Undecember. We hope that it gives you the clearest and most precise overview of the game. Is it a rival to Diablo Immortal? Well, Diablo Immortal isn’t that good, to begin with, but still, we would have to say no.
