What The Gotham Knights Leaks Told Us About The Game The Positives & Negatives

Gotham Knights is set to release this Friday and fans of the game are very much excited at the prospect of jumping into Gotham City with one of four of the Knights. Despite the negative reception of the game not being able to hit 60 FPS on current-gen (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S) consoles, there are still some people hyped about playing the game. Let’s find out what the Gotham Knights leaks tell us.

Gotham Knights: Leaks | Everything We Know

Can’t wait to play this big guy.

The whole 60 FPS issue is unfortunate. And I do hope that WB Montreal eventually patches in a Performance Mode for consoles. Insomniac has done it before, and they have set the standard on how to properly patch their games in order to appease fans.

I have no doubt in my mind that WB Montreal is working on a Performance Mode for console players right now. After the intense backlash of the announcement, it only makes sense that they will do this in order to earn the goodwill of their fanbase again. But in the meantime, we just have to wait for the game to release.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, however you want to look at it), some players have gotten early copies of Gotham Knights.

Some people just have all the luck, don’t they? Reddit user almarhuby posted on the subreddit for Gotham Knights a picture of a PlayStation 5 copy of the game with the caption “Just picked up my copy”.

Now, this is not unusual in the gaming world. There are various instances of players getting early copies when the game hasn’t released yet. Some retailers get sent shipments of the games early and sell the games, not knowing that it’s not supposed to be released yet. When asked about how almarhuby got the game early, they replied saying “Retailer I usually shop at somehow got it early and sent me a message lol. So I just picked it up.”

Another post by almarhuby showcases gameplay footage. However, the footage has been, unsurprisingly, taken down. Presumably by WB Montreal in an effort to prevent more leaks.

A little too late for that, guys.

Redditors in the subreddit have already seen the gameplay footage and have asked almarhuby questions regarding the game. Of course, the big question is how did the game look visually? Which almarhuby replies with “The game looks beautiful visually. Frame rates feel stable about 90% of the time. There are a few drops, like when entering the detective/investigation mode.”

For gameplay, almarhuby had this to say: “The movement can feel awkward and have a slight delay when walking around indoors, especially when you try to take a sharp turn.”

Despite admitting that movement is rough, alamrhuby actually enjoys the combat, saying, “Combat, on the other hand, feels great.” One of the many things that fans hate about the game is that the combat looks slow and sluggish. During the marketing of the game, trailers will often showcase players fighting rather slow, instead of aggressive.

While Gotham Knights might be a mixed bag for some people, we can’t judge a game yet without playing it. Gotham Knights might be good. So good, that you will spend hours on the game. Gotham Knights might also be bad. So bad, that you can just refund it and get your money back if you haven’t gone over the 2-hour mark on Steam.

Either way, Gotham Knights is fast approaching with only a few days left. So, the opportunity to see for yourself is close.
