After the announcement that Gotham Knights will only be running on 30 FPS on current gen consoles, fans of the game and Batman alike were shocked to hear the news. That shock then turned into anger as to why a current gen game is still locked at 30 FPS on consoles.

According to the executive producer for the game, Fleur Marty, Gotham Knights will not run at 60 FPS on current gen consoles. This is due to the game having some features that prevents them from hitting 60 FPS, thus the reason why 30 FPS is the only option for them. She also goes on to say that there is no option for a Performance or Quality mode that other current gen games have.

This news coming just a week before release did not sit well with the fanbase. Some went on to criticize the decision to only cap the game at 30 FPS for consoles, others cited developers like Insomniac who managed to get 60 FPS while having Ray Tracing on.

Then there are those who refunded the game, just a week before launch.

Some have even begun comparing Gotham Knights to its big brother, the Batman Arkham games. In the tweet, a comparison was made with a screenshot of Arkham Knight, a last gen game that was capped at 30 FPS, to a screenshot of Gotham Knights. People have begun to take sides in this, saying that Arkham Knight is a much better looking game than Gotham Knights.

The comparison was bound to happen. It even happened back when Gotham Knights was first revealed. Marvel’s Spider-Man’s web swinging was even compared to Spider-Man 2’s web swinging, just to see which one was better when Marvel’s Spider-Man was first released.

Comparisons are generally fine. It does not hurt to point out that one thing looks better than the other. But to not try both things and making a decision, that’s when we should stop and reevaluate. It is much better to try and find out, rather than just forming an opinion from other people’s opinion.
