God Of War Ragnarok is not only about finding creative ways to demolish your opponents. Sometimes, it’s about solving complex problems that require your brain power to figure out. Since you’re up against the Norse myths this time, expect some pretty good puzzles to go against.

One of these challenging puzzles is the River gates in Svartalfheim. There are a lot of challenges to go through on this part. This guide will quickly show you how to open the river gates to solve the water puzzle.

How to Open the River Gates in Svartalfheim

There are 3 Obstacles that are in the way blocking your boat. You will mostly use your axe to freeze water holes and destroy chains to solve puzzles.

Let’s go through each obstacle to solve the entire puzzle. For the first two ones you have to turn the wheel to pass through it,

First Obstacle

In the first one, you’ll encounter your first Water Wheel Geyser. You have to aim your axe towards it and throw to stop the water flow. This will freeze the hole, allowing you to go through it.

Afterward, climb the wooden structure and zip line toward the land. When you land you will encounter a bunch of enemies. These are not a problem.

Once you defeat them, simply climb the chains and you will the giant wheel that’s in the way of your boat.

Second Obstacle(Iron Gate)

The key to solving this puzzle is to freeze the geyser hole. To do this you must go to high ground so you can properly aim it toward the hole.

This will make the wheel move to make the obstacle go down.

Third Obstacle(River Gate)

First, break the chains by aiming your axe toward the logo. Aftward, pull on the chains that you see when you cross it.

This will pull down only half of the gate. To lower the rest, you must find the other chain that controls the other half.

Afterward, find this covered geyser and open it. This will be the key to spinning the wheel. Freeze the other geyser to boost the water pressure for the newly opened one to reveal the chain.

Like the previous one, break the chain by throwing your axe on the icon. After that, climb on the platform until you see the chains that will open the gate for you.
