In God of War Ragnarok, Favors are essentially side quests that you can do in the semi-open world of the Norse Mythology game. You can travel to different realms and be asked to do a favor from the local population that lives there. Other times, you can just be exploring random places, only to have accidentally start a new Favor. The Favor Scent of Survival is one of those. It’s not a long quest, and it can be finished in one session, but a guide on how to complete never hurts to have, right?
God Of War Ragnarok – Scent of Survival Guide
To start Scent of Survival, you will need to go to Freyr’s Camp.
Follow Atreus, as he says that Helka smells something. Once that bit of dialogue is done, the Scent of Survival quest starts.
Opening your Goals menu, you will see the Favor being added. Your first objective is to follow Helka, which is marked by an objective marker, so you won’t lose her.
Following the objective marker, you will find that Helka left some tracks. Unfortunately, no Helka in sight, and the water next to you means she transformed to follow the scent. Use the boat next to you to get into the water.
Once in the boat, go right and you will see more tracks when you go under an arch.
Go to this area and dock the boat to follow Helka on foot.
Look at the ground to find more prints. From here, you will need to follow them, as the objective marker does not appear again, so be sure to follow the tracks. If you do lose them, you can always just circle back and find the nearest set of prints to track her again.
Eventually, you will reach the end of Helka’s pawprints. You will find her on a ridge. Mimir, however, says that you cannot follow her during this time of the night. That is your hint on what you should do next.
Look to your right and climb up the ridges to reach this piece of Norse magic. Using this will turn night into day. After that, go back to where Helka was and follow her again.
Once you have followed Helka, you will then have to use the paper boat to go to the crater, which then finishes the Scent of Survival favor.
