There are many types of enemies that will do everything in their power to tear you to pieces in the Darktide Warhammer 40K game. The ones that you should worry about the most are the ones marked as Specials. You will need to be prepared and know what they do, what they look like, and how they sound like so as to be ready to take them on. Let’s get started.
Guide To Specials | Warhammer 40K – Darktide
Sound is the biggest advantage when it comes to fighting Specials. You will hear that very angry animal roar type of sound and that is when you know that one is coming to jump on your face. They all have a special sound and with time you can pinpoint them just by listening to their sounds.
Box Burster
This scary-looking enemy will jump out of nowhere to explore in your face. You will most notably hear and need to look out for the ticking sound. This is when the Burster is getting prepared to jump on you at the right moment. It will go slower and then faster with time.
Make sure to dodge him or just push him away if he is next to you. If he is going to blow go into a defensive stance to lessen the blow.
Mutant
The mutant is a special that has brute strength and power. You will see it before it comes to you so you can be ready for him. His special attack is pushing the enemies to the side and charging at you. If he catches you, he will smash you from the ground.
You can hear his roar from very far away.
Pox Hound
The pox hound is a running dog type of enemy that will run very fast and jump charge at your face. If he catches you, you will be stuck in an animation where he will be damaging you a lot.
You can hear the howling sound so you can know when he is coming to you. Just dodge him from his charge or push him by using skills. You can also dodge on the side if you do it in the very right moment and get him to miss you and hit your companion behind you instead.
Scab Trapper
You will hear his chattering and the charging sound from a distance making it very easy to know when he is coming near you.
When he catches you, and he will try to do this, he will be pulling you to his general location and making you vulnerable to enemy attacks. The net will do slow ticking energy type of damage that will require assistance from a companion to get you saved.
You are able to just dodge on the side so as to not get caught. Be careful because the net can come from a distance away.
Scab Bomber
This one is the most elusive one of all of them. The only thing that you need to worry about this one is the shiny belt made from belts on his chest. He will come near you to explode and throw his firebombs.
He will also do a callout sound before he throws them so be sure to listen for them.
Dreg Tox Flamer
There is nothing notable about his visuals that will make him quite distinct, still, you are able to hear the chatter and the sounds that he makes. Also, you can hear the clicks from his flamethrower coming from a distance away.
Make sure to dodge the flame that he will fire out with this gun. Stay out of range or simply dodge on the side to get out of it. Take him down with ranged shooting weapons.
His fire might not do all that much DMG, he will create a road for other enemies to come at you, like the Hound jumping from the fire without you seeing it.
Scab Sniper
This silent enemy will be the bane of your existence for sure. Be on the lookout for the laser that is going around the map and just looking and following you.
You will want to dodge it at all times and just follow it around. It is better to go after this enemy with melee strikes than to try to kill him in a 1v1 sniper combat. You will simply not be fast enough!
Do not try to pick up a downed comrade if a sniper is up and about. Kill the sniper first.
That’s all of the Specials in Darktide. We hope that this guide has helped you out on how to better deal with all of them. A big thank you to ArgusDT from YouTube for his info. For more details check him out here.
