With every new big update on Valheim, you will need to learn a couple of tips and tricks to better survive. This guide will be helping you out with the Mistlands update. Let’s see what is new and what you shall need to use the most to survive and explore. Let’s get started.
How To Survive, Exploring, New Creatures & New Resources Guide – Valheim Mistlands
Exploring & Survival Tips
The very basic thing that you need to know before you start heading out exploring and surviving inside the Mistlands is to go into the Yagluth shrine or possibly the Bonemass one and get all of their resistances that can buff you up. If you are in a part make sure to take the Eikthyr which will give you a lot of stamina buffs.
The Most Crucial Item – Wisp Fountain
The most crucial and important item that you need to have with you in order to prevent lots of unnecessary deaths is the Wisp Fountain. To be able to get one you will have to defeat the Yagluth and the Torn Spirit item should be in your inventory. This is how you will collect wisps at night time.
The Best Lighting Up Item – Torches With Wisps
To be able to go along the map and actually see through the mist, you will want to have a lot of the new torches. You shall place them all along the road where you shall travel and also make sure that you have a nice amount of wisps to be able to place them. This is the best lighting item.
Build On Top Of The Mist
If you want to be able to actually get away from all the monsters coming your way inside the mistlands, you will want to build on top of it and actually out of it. The mist doesn’t actually cover everything. There is a thick layer where the biggest enemy can wreck your base. But in areas, as shown in the picture above, you can build. Make sure that they have snow of it though.
Dvergr Are Good & Ballista
You will want to use the Dvergr to your advantage. Make sure that you build something close to them so that you will be able to get inside their actual safe house and not get killed by the Draugr or other monsters outside.
Then once you have built something next to them, you will want to make use of the Balista. At the moment they work very well when shooting under. So build them somewhere high or on top of your base.
Dismantle Ruins
All of these new ruins that you can find throughout the game are amazing sources of metal and iron. Make sure that you have a pickaxe with you so that you can mind them up to get all sources of goodies.
New Creatures
The Gjall is a huge insect that levitates around and sometimes gives birth to Tick minions. The Ticks will swoop on you and drink your blood, but on their own, they aren’t too dangerous. Try to avoid being attacked by more than one tick at once. On the other hand, the Seekers do powerful direct damage. They move quickly and look like cockroaches. They usually come out in groups.
Stay far away from the Queen and the Munin. Only approach them if you are ready for a very big battle. They will be tucked away into temples that you will need to explore but you might reach them by mistake.
Chickens
You are able to get a lot of good stuff from the chickens and hens. Make sure that you are well protected and build high enough walls so that you can get the most out of them. You can get your main food source like this.
New Resources & Items
The biggest new thing that you should know of is the Black Marble. It is a resource that you should be going after to be able to actually travel through the new map region.
This update brings metal walls, spiral stairs, and furniture in the style of the Dvergr. This includes new lamps, rugs, drapes, a desk, a stools, and a throne, talbe. The most useful things are probably the Wisp torch, which can clear the fog around your settlement, and the Ballista, which can be used to defend it.
Those are the newest and most important things that you need to know for the Mistlands Update. We hope that this guide has been useful and made you a better overall Valheim Mistlands survivor. A big thank you to Jade PG.
