How To Build Heavy Cruisers – Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts

Let’s get even bigger!

If you like World War 1 or 2 ships and like building and designing them then Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts might be up your alley. The game just came out of early access to full release and it’s a game where you design ships for your country as you try to defeat the AI with their own designed ships. The ship customization in this game is amazing and has a lot of choices, from the number of shells you have on a ship to the type of boilers the ship uses. In this guide we’ll show you how to design Heavy Cruisers in the game.

Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts: How To Build Heavy Cruisers

Heavy Cruisers is the middle of the range when it comes to ship classification. They’re bigger than Destroyers and Light Cruisers, but smaller than Battle Cruisers and Battleships. They’re usually ships with a great firepower and protection and can sometimes even punch above their weight class. They’re the ones that soak up the damage and bring more damage to the table if you don’t want to build battleships.

Designing a Heavy Cruisers

To start off we’ll need to pick a heavy Cruiser hull, depending on the time period the name of the hull might change so go for the ones that says “CA.” The reason why it’s CA instead of CH (Like how for Light Cruisers it’s CL) is because originally they were called “Armored Cruisers.”

Then you’ll need to pick a main tower and a secondary tower as well as funnels, make sure you have more than or close to 100% Engine Efficiency.

Now for the fun parts, the guns! Heavy Cruisers, unlike the lighter version, can carry bigger guns and they can carry a lot of secondary guns. You can opt for a medium guns like 8 or 9 inch guns. Or you can go even heavier with 10 or 11 inch guns, but it will be literally heavier and pricier.

Secondary guns is what the Heavy Cruiser usually uses against smaller ships like Light Cruisers and Destroyers so be sure to have some of them so they can defend against these nimble targets.

In terms of armor you can either check the stats of the weapons you’re facing and adjust or go for maximizing your armor if you’re planning on using these Heavy Cruisers to brawl against battleships.

Tips in Design

Don’t worry about speed when it comes to Heavy Cruisers, go with the optimal speed for the hull by mousing over it. Leave the speed malarkey to the Destroyers and Light Cruisers.

Armor vs. Cost. Don’t go over armored if you’re just planning to use the Heavy Cruisers against smaller ships. When going against bigger ships it’s better to focus on the guns you have and the accuracy of those guns.

Heavy Cruisers can have a lot of types, from ones that brawl against other Heavy Cruisers, to ones that are designed to fight Battleships and then there’s the more common ones that deal with smaller ships. Take your pick and design from there.

Torpedoes might not be the best weapon to have for a Heavy Cruiser but it is there. Historically speaking there’s a couple of countries like Japan that placed Torpedoes on their Heavy Cruisers.

Congratulations you now know how to design Heavy Cruisers in Ultimate Admiral Dreadnought, now go out there and create one! Remember that sometimes it’s better to just make heavy cruisers than just big expensive battleships!
