Isaac Clarke did not ask to be a protagonist for one of gaming’s best sci-fi horror franchises ever, but he got to be one. The man is practically surviving by the skin of his teeth. He did not come prepared to be using mining tools to cut limbs off aliens who were once humans.

However, you have the choice to take control of Isaac and help him survive this ordeal, but with the option to come in prepared.

In this guide, we’ll show you 5 tips and tricks that you should remember when playing the new Dead Space Remake.

5 Tips & Tricks for Beginners – Dead Space Remake

Tip #1: The Plasma Cutter is Your Bestfriend

The Plasma Cutter is the most iconic weapon in the franchise. While there are other weapons in the game that Isaac uses throughout his adventures, his preferred weapon is the Plasma Cutter, and can you blame him? It’s a mining tool designed to cut chunks off rocks, but now it’s turned into a Necromorph killing machine.

While it may be the first weapon you obtain in all 4 of Isaac’s adventures, don’t think that it’s the weakest. It is a simple and fast weapon that when fully upgraded, can easily cut off limbs with one or two shots, three or four if you’re playing on harder difficulties.

Keep this weapon on you at all times.

Tip #2: Stock Up on Med Packs

Never, and I mean never run out of Med Packs. It is literally your only source of health in the entire game.

The Med Packs come in three sizes: Small, Medium, and Large. If you run out of Med Packs, then you better pray that you are lucky enough to kill a Necromorph that drops one. You can also buy them in the Store. However, Medium and Large Med Packs are unavailable until you get their schematics.

It’s recommended you always have 3 Small Med Packs, 2 Medium Med Packs, and 1 Large Med Pack, especially in harder difficulties.

Also, side note, when using the automatic heal, you will always use Small Med Packs first. If you want to use Med Packs like Medium and Large to heal yourself when you’re red or yellow, you will need to do it manually in the menu.

Tip #3: Explore Your Surroundings

The Ishimura may be full of Necromorphs that want to eat your face and turn you into one of them, but it’s also full of resources that Isaac can use to fight off Necromorphs that want to eat his face and turn him into one of them. After all, Isaac finds his first weapon by exploring his surroundings, so looking around won’t hurt (that much).

Exploring is crucial because unlike in the original Dead Space, the Ishimura is one giant ship that Isaac can walk around in. He can come back to different areas at any time should he choose to, which is helpful because there are areas that cannot be accessed unless you have a higher-level security clearance, thus missing out on potential resources and upgrades.

Tip #4: Keep Your Weapons Up

In the original game, the Ishimura doesn’t seem all that dark, and if you have played enough of it, you can remember when and where the Necromorphs will pop up. The developers over at Motive know you know this, which is why they decided to up the fear factor by implementing a couple of things: darker Ishimura and random Necromorph spawns.

The game is 10x darker than the original game, but not to the point where you can’t see anything… okay, you literally cannot see anything in the dark, but that’s why you have your trusty weapons to help you light the way forward should things get too dark. But that’s just one of the reasons why you should keep your weapon up most of the time.

As I mentioned before, the developers over at Motive know you know where the Necromorph jumpscares were in the original, which is why they added the feature that Necromorphs will randomly spawn on you at all times. Meaning that you cannot be relaxed when playing this game, you need to be on your toes with your weapon pointed forward to shoot at anything that is moving toward you.

Tip #5: There’s An Alternate Ending

If you think you are free from playing Dead Space because you just finished the game and are seeing the credits, then think again, bucko. The developers confirmed that there is an alternate ending to the game.

We are not going to be spoiling the secret ending for you, but the way to get this ending is by playing New Game + (any difficulty will do) and collecting 12 Marker Fragments that are spread out throughout the game.

Once you have collected all 12 Marker Fragments, then all you need to do is just play the game until you reach the ending and you will see the alternate ending.
