Navigating the heat is easy, you just take your clothes off, jump into the river, and everything will be alright. The same can’t be said however when it comes to moving around in the cold. You can only put on so many layers until your movement is fully compromised.

Luckily, an alternative method of traversing the cold is readily available in Tears of the Kingdom. Never again will your teeth start chattering once the temperature drops below zero degrees. Read the guide if you want more information about surviving the cold!

How to Traverse Cold Areas

To move around cold areas without freezing to death, you will need cold resistance. Strangely enough, the food item you need that gives you cold resistance are Spicy Peppers, which can be found near areas with snow.

In this guide, you can go next to the entrance of the Mining Cave of the Great Sky Island to get your hands on a few. Head further into the Pit Cave to get some more for the road.

When you get a hold of the right ingredient, open your inventory and hold the spicy pepper in your hands. You can hold up to five of these, next get close to a fire to get the option to cook.

If you want to know how to do the opposite and survive the heat then all you have to do is jump into a nearby water source to reset your temperature! You’ll be doing this once you descend, during your visit to the Rakakudaj Shrine specifically.
