Tears of the Kingdom: Taunhiy Shrine Guide | Courage Island Hyrule Ridge Sky

This shrine takes a bit more effort to find!

Tears of the Kingdom Taunhiy Shrine

In the new Tears of the Kingdom Zelda game, you might have noticed that there are a lot of things that retained from the old game. At first glance the map looks the same but soon after you start the game, you’ll see that there are now large underground sections and even sky islands. Some of these Sky Islands also have shrines that you can unlock with them.

In this guide we’ll show you how to find the Taunhiy Shrine that you unlock through the Courage Island. Get ready since this one involves sky diving and aerial bow attacks!

Taunhiy Shrine Guide

In Tears of the Kingdom, you can find these shrines that often have puzzles in them for you to solve. Once you solve the puzzles and finish the shrines you get Blessing of Light and you can use that to add a Stamina Bar or a Heart to Link if you get 4 of them. You can also use these shrines as fast travel points once you’ve cleared them. Some shrines though need a bit more effort to find and unlock them!

Here’s the steps we’re going to take to complete the Courage Island Shrine:

  1. Locate Courage Island.
  2. Unlock the Shrine through a Challenge.
  3. Enter The Shrine.
  4. Complete the Combat Training.
  5. Finish the Shrine!

First off, we’ll need to get to Courage Island, which is actually one of the new Sky Islands in the game. That means going high up using a Skyview Tower and gliding our way onto it. The closest one is the Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower so go up there and activate it to launch yourself up.

Once at the highest point you’ll want to start paragliding to the southwest, you can use the image below for reference.

Courage Island can be a bit difficult to spot when you’re really high up but as you get closer you can see it better. Just make sure you land on it so we can go to the next step.

In the middle of the island is a circular stone that has green markings in the middle when you get near it. Examine it to start the challenge.

A small cutscene will play and it’ll spawn a green circle behind the stone. To start the challenge you’ll need to jump through the circle and dive down.

While diving down more circles will appear and you’ll need to go through each one of them as fast as possible.

When you see that your dive is getting too far away from the circle, use the paraglider to correct your course.

Once you get to the bottom and finish the challenge you should end at a small pool so you don’t die from fall damage. A short cutscene will play that will spawn the shrine nearby. You can then go to it and interact with it, the Taunhiy Shrine!

Once you go inside, you’ll see that this is a Combat Training Shrine and it’s for the bow. The game will give you an ability to shoot a bow while in the air, slowing down time as you do it. You’ll also see this enemy pictured below.

He can only be damaged using the aerial bow attacks. When the trial starts it’ll shoot at you so watch out! Around it are wind fans that shoot wind upwards, use your Paraglider to catch the wind and fly up.

Once you’re up aim your bow and it’ll slow down time, remember that it uses up stamina! Once in the air shoot at the ‘head’ of the enemy, the 3 red and yellow circles.

This will end the trail and the next one begins where two more will spawn in. You’ll need to defeat them using the aerial bow attack since normal attacks don’t damage them.

Once the three are defeated the gate to the end of the shrine will open! You can then go there and finish the shrine!

That’s how you do the Courage Island Shrine in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a pretty short shrine, what makes it long is the way to unlocking it!
